CMDRs - How many credits have you spent outfitting ships? (Poll)

I was surprised at how many credits I have spent outfitting ships. I am sure we all have spent quite a bit. I'm interested in seeing just how many big spenders there truly are!

Because polls are recently disabled, I have to use Google Forms. If I get enough responses, I will be able to generate a nice scatter plot to see how different commanders are when it comes to outfitting frequency. Anonymous of course!

Be aware the outfitting statistic recycles your components. It can easily be abused to get a higher number. This poll is just for fun.

edit: saved pre-form responses and changed the poll after some helpful advice.

Well into the billions, I don't think it's accurate, it doesn't calculate the money you got back from selling modules.

Btw, our rank is based on trade profit, not money spent in outfitting

Credits spent on outfitting is meaningless because it counts swapping modules as a full price sale, and I swap modules around on my ships a lot. It's some ridiculously inflated number that in no way reflects how much of my fortune I've actually sunk into hardware over my career.

Glad to see it's inaccurate because I was feeling like it was low, but I couldn't find enough people with large values. I'll have to find more reference points to get an idea of the ranks.

I think you have misunderstood, that number is not too low, it is too high. You haven't spent 2 billion in outfitting, it doesn't calculate all the swapping that you do.

I reached Tycoon somewhere around 300 mill in trade profit, Elite rank is 1 billion+ trade profit

Put it this way, I could keep buying and selling a Anaconda, swapping out items. The number will keep increasing even though I am not spending new money

About 1.9 billion, mostly on smaller ships.

I think ~700 million is from using every permutation of the Viper about three times.

I surpassed 800 million in outfitting when I was still a Dealer, since only a small portion of my worth comes from trade. Until a few weeks ago, my profit from assassinations was greater than my trade profit.

It's accurate. All module purchases are recorded, and that's all that's recorded or meant to be recorded.

I've spent exactly what it says on outfitting. Which is almost ten times all the money I have ever made, because all of that money I put into outfitting is recycled.

Updated post with better ranks.

The Outfitting statistic does recycle and I am aware of that. I want to know how often people fiddle with their ships.

I think you misunderstood. Of course I haven't spent 2 billion in credits! This isn't a real rank that cmdrs will want to abuse to get a higher number. This poll is just to get an idea of how often players outfit. Also, I am not trying to compare this value with trade ranks; I merely reused the rank names and used some of the multipliers that are used in all of the ranks.

It isn't meaningless, it just means something else then what I expected it would mean. :p Right now it is an index of how much of a tinkerer you are: the higher the total outfitting sum compared with your total earnings, the more of a tinkerer you are. The more you know... ;)

I disagree that it's either pointless or confusing.

It shows how much you've reconfigured your loadouts, which is exactly what it's supposed to represent.

All of my assets add up to about 180 million.

I've spent more than ten times that on outfitting, because I've tried many configurations of most ships, and swap ships and parts around frequently.

After I get enough responses in the poll I will be able to generate a scatter plot of commander's outfitting/total assets. I have a spreadsheet recording the two numbers. anonymous of course unless you are proud of your figures :)

This is just to see if there is a large discrepancy in outfitting frequency for commanders. Thanks for your time.
