Co-op exploration question

I'm going to embark on a co-op exploration and had a question.

-Do my wingmates get a notice when I scan the system for planets?

-Do my wingmates have to be a certain range near me to get the Advanced Discovery Scan and the Detail Surface Scan? I've noticed that they do in fact get the scan bonus, but is there a range?
