It would be awesome if you could invite a friend in game to co-pilot your ship. I often look across to my right in my Cobra and wonder where my co-pilot is. Back in the days of the original elite it was a two player effort sometimes with one on keyboard and one on joystick.
I am sure this has probably been suggested so please merge if thats the case. I just wonder how hard would it be to set up through online play with both players controlling one ship. Possibly allow both access to all controls or have a screen where you can divide up controls. That would be very immersive with you having to dock your ships at the same station and then chose to fly together. You could even have an A.I. co-pilot. Anyway thats my dream.
