Coaster designs getting better parks getting smaller

I was looking for the post on park size or boundaries but could not find it. I've notice that the coaster designs are getting better the more people play around, but to make them really smooth they are having to make the coasters bigger which is taking up a lot of room. While coasters take up large areas of real theme parks the scale here is off, I assume they will make for larger parks before release dependent upon performance but I wanted to through out another suggestion if they don't go that route, allow coasters outside the boundaries so this way you can still have as large, detailed park which is not taken up completely by a few coasters. Is there another discussion on this already?

I'm new here so not to my knowledge, with the game still being in it's alpha stages I'm sure they're going to implement some way of being able to make the coasters smoother without taking up much space, for example when changing the length of a track segment/peice of track as of now we're limited to how long we can create a track peice, maybe in the future they'll remove that limitation which allows us to create the track peice as long as we want to smoothen it out.

Or they can also implement a node system on the tracks o we're able to change the tension of the track peices like Pantera studios have done with Theme Park Studio which also allows us to make smoother coasters.

There is a 'smoother' tool in the coaster editor but not sure if it works as of yet.

I believe they are staying away from node editing and yes the smoother tool does work. You can select a single piece or multiple pieces and smooth multiple times. I think I saw a dev refer to it as smoother smooth.

I think you are right. Coasters take a lot of space and not just coasters, some flatrides are HUGE as well. Thats not a bad thing as long as the maps will be bigger as what we have now.

Im pretty sure the final game will let us have bigger maps, the question is just HOW big.
I realize this is always a difficult thing because its what fans want VS performance. And they can't sell a game with a 1000x1000 square map that no single computer is able to process.

Hopefully it will be something like in City's Skylines where the base game offers you quite a big map already but still "performable" to most computers. But if you don't care about lag or you just bought that super expensive super powerfull game computer you can have biggers maps with a cheatcode or mod.

Has anyone built an entire park full of rides and coasters yet? My current project is about 1/3 the map full with 2 coasters and 6 flat rides. I can fit 4-5 more coasters in the park easy and still have room to spare. If you build a giga coaster it will require more space but I believe planning where the coaster will go is key to having it in the park. They do take up more space but if placed along the outside edges of the park, it will have a minimal impact on the park size.

As you can see, still plenty of room to build and expand the park.

they have mentioned on multiple occasions there will be bigger park plots, i think they said 4 times the size we have now if i recall.

^judge that a nice top down view of the park, enough to keep it interesting without being too sparse. Krux that's good news I had not seen/heard that yet, although there is a balance to building large parks while still keeping them interesting. When transport rides get here though that will open up new idea and allow for sparser areas and details parts of the park.

It's interesting that you've started building at the back of the park. My problem has always been (even since RCT) that I build my first few rides around the entrance and then realise afterwards that I have basically no room left for a path to anywhere else in the park. I never learn [cry]

Me too!

Giga coasters take a lot of Real Estate at real parks too.

Example is Fury 325 Currently the tallest/fastest Giga coaster.

In that image of Carowinds the coaster is on the outskirts of the park. This goes back to what I was saying. If your going to build a massive giga coaster, place its track along the edges of the map. This will allow you to build a large coaster that's spread out and still leave room for the rest of the park.

If you take a closer look you can see almost all of the larger coasters are on the edge of the park. This is how almost all major parks are built. 1 because it allows for the rest of the park. And 2 because it forces the guests to walk farther distances to get to each one. forces you to pass all of the goodies on the way. Theme Parks make most of their money on impulse buying from its guests. Not ticket sales to enter the park...

And yes, I build from the back forward. It does 2 things for me... It allows me to fill in and not get blocked off as you have said. It also forces me to finish the project lol. It is daunting and time consuming to build a highly detailed park full of theming. If you build up front first, it gives you an out to say "meh looks full to me, let me just build a massive forest and call it complete" lol

True. I just posted it to illustrate your point.

cant remember where its at, ill dig it up, but it was a question answered either in one of the developer question-airs or live stream, they also mentioned 20k people in park being the target, not sure that would fit well in the current map size haha
