Coaster POV "Look Ahead" Toggle

Hi all, I don't know if this has been posted before, I'm new to the forum.

When riding a POV of a roller coaster, the camera is always looking ahead a little bit of the train; turning, dropping, banking before your actual car does. I always ride in the Front Bumper cam view, and this look-ahead effect is unrealistic. I understand that this may be intentional to mask some of the smoothness imperfections, but I would really love it if there was a toggle in the options to turn this effect off. Thoughts?

Thank you loads for the incredible work you've done on this software and continue to do with updates.

I would love a feature like this. Just a simple go-pro style camera mounted to the coaster car with no smoothing at all.

If I remember correctly in RCT3 if you scrolled the mouse wheel back one notch the camera would lock solid and not try and smooth the view. [up]

They should have a camera that is mounted on the front of the train, so it exactly follows the train. However, in order for this to actually give good results the smoothing issue needs to be addressed as well. Right now the reason the 4m method Silvarret made a video about "works" is not because it makes the track smooth, but instead because the bumper-cam doesn't follow the track. It follows it's own smoothed out track.

"We want smoother coasters"

Silvarret: "Heres a method that isnt perfect, but its pretty smooth"

"Thats not good enough"
I would love [...] no smoothing at all.
Not only do you want smoother coasters... but you also want to disable the smoothing feature that we currently have so that we can see every specific bump??

Can things be improved? Of course! Does it need to be perfect? Absolutely not, the game is great... is it NL2? no its much much better... theres so many other things that could be improved, coasters smoothness is a tiny detail that only stands out to certain "expert builders" but there are a lot of other things that keep casuals away from playing

The 4m method doesn't make coasters smooth. It only abuses the floaty-ness of the bumper camera to get a little bit better result in certain cases. The OP wants this floatyness to be removed which is understandable, but I only pointed out that by doing so the 4m method will stop working as well.

If it is too nitpicky or not is subjective, and I believe we have already discussed this to death basically :p. But personally for a game where coasters are one of the main aspects, having to be as lacking as they are is just a huge flaw, and any coaster enthusiast would agree. The smoothness of a coaster is not a tiny detail. If a coaster is not smooth the whole thing is a failure, not matter how good the layout is, no matter how good the scenery is, etc. Besides, RCTW has smoother coasters, Parkitect has smoother coasters, Roblox has smoother coasters, NoLimits 1 and 2 (obviously) have smoother coasters. Even a modded RCT3 will have smoother coasters. There is literally no excuse for Planet Coaster to not have smooth coasters, since making a spline system for tracks with continuous-banking is not hard at all.

I guess you missed the not-so-subtle irony of my post [tongue]

Ugh, I completely did! But instead of taking responsibility for that I am going to blame the fact that it is late and that I should actually be sleeping right now. [haha]

I don't really mind if it's smooth or not. That's not the issue. The look-ahead behavior doesn't rid the POV of banking jerks, so it's essentially useless. I simply dislike that the camera isn't doing the same thing as what it's attached to.

That it looks ahead is caused by the smoothing.
