Coaster suggestions

First of yes I know the coaster is very alpha stage at this moment but I would like to give some suggestions anyway [big grin]

1) Custom supports. I hope we get an option to have optional custom supports. The auto-generated supports look nice but a bit wrong and unrealistic. Also way too close to eachother which looks messy. Also it would be way nicer if you could place them by yourself. You would have much more realistic coasters and it looks way better to share them. Of course for the more casual players you can keep auto-generated supports, but for the real players and those who share their coaster blueprints, custom supports are a must!

2) An option to increase/decrease the length of the station and trains. For obvious reasons.

3) Multiple trains and stations in one track (for those who want to use a coaster as a transport ride but more for higher capacity rides).

4) Extra's such as transfer tables and switches so you can have only 1 train running when it isn't busy in the park (and thus less maintenance is needed)

5) Animations of the guests loading/unloading on the station. Right now they just teleport from the entrance in the cart. But i'm sure this is on your list already.

6) Maybe photo sessions, block brakes, transfer tables different kind of breaks, lifts, launcers and other triggers? For those die-hard coaster freaks who want everything realistic.

7) G-forces displayed in some way. Like track becoming red when it's too extreme. Also maybe a summery of the total coaster when it's done. Like RCT had with ultra-extreme and such.

8) Being able to set the colors of everything (supports, tracks, spline, cars, seats, harnasses, etc) through RGB like 255,255,255 = white etc. But also using a color palette for the more casual players who don't know RGB codes. Or you can select like red from the color palette and the RGB raw input line would change automaticly to 255,0,0 for example. I think that is the best

9) Maybe easy switching between spline-based building and piece-by-piece building for coaster tracks. if i'm understanding correctly right now you can only add special elements like loops etc but it may be nice to be able to add simple elements like a simple straight piece of a small turn, medium turn and big turn. If you dont have a grid this could help you alot with building symetrical.

So yes thats it for now I guess.

Thanks alot devs!!!!

Just going by what was in RCT3, I'm kinda expecting all of the nice little perks in there to be carried over, and possibly improved in this killer title! It's still very early in the process, and like we all know the Coaster stuff is far from ready. Give them time and I'm sure we will all be pleasantly surprised! I've just been playing for a couple hours and can't get over how awesome it is. I look forward to the updates over the coming months. Have fun everyone!

These I fully agree with. The other ones are either planned and going in later (e.g. transfer tracks, colors) or not something that I think would work (e.g. spline based building - the editor we have is powerful enough for all players already imo). Only exception is #5, which I left to point out that they probably won't walk into their seats, but might walk up to the car they'll be sitting in like in RCT3.

Custom supports I've discussed quite a bit on here. Something like NL2 wouldn't work in only the 3D perspective view, but if we could click on the ground next to a support to add a beam coming off the side or something, that'd be fine with me. The only thing I have a problem with is too many straight-down supports.

I'd also like speed to be displayed like in NL2, so you don't make an awesome element only to have it go slowly round/over it.

Yeah the boarding or loading and unloading of the passengers. I just cam eback to talk about this but yeah we dont have to actually see them get in every cart but make it like RCT3 where they walk to the cart and then just spawn in it. Otherwise the station is completely empty that looks kinda sad.

But yeah we dont need them to actually sit down, but just walk up to the cart please.

Also i noticed that the coaster POV`s look very unsmooth and i dont know how you can change that, maybe a smooth track button or something? [alien]

anyone else noticed that too?

All great suggestions, but #3 really is a must for me. It means on the ravine map, I could make a series of coasters to move people around the park as making pedestrian paths on this map is erm... interesting.

There is a smooth track option. Go into the coasters debug mode -> edit track. Select a section of track and to the top left of the editing tools is a button that looks like two arrows pointing up, which expands part of the GUI, then you'll see a "Smooth" button.

I noticed this too but its mainly because most people just kinda are bad at making coasters. And I dont mean to offend them. But its just so you dont lose hope. Everybody was posting coaster vids and I thought most of them looked like death coasters and neckbreakers. But that was mainly due to those people's poor building skills. I know this because there was also another guy and he made a very nice and smooth coaster. See on top of this thread: https://forums.planetcoaster.com/showthread.php/1848-Post-you-coaster-cam-videos-here/page2

So the smoothness is alright, but a casual player cant make it very smooth. Thats more for the more experienced players.

I only hope that once people start to upload content we will get some kind of vote and rating system and the people become very picky at what is a good coaster. Because i'm all about realisim. I dont like coasters that move like they could kill you :p

I got a better idea for supports. I notice the supports are very close to eachother and messy when you built small parts of track so maybe a seperate length slider for the track and a separate intensity slider for the supports?

Maybe add some height notifications in the ride so you know how high a track is?

On-ride photos.

Nuff said.

(Of course with the option of where to put the camera and where guests buy photos, etc)

I'm hoping that the control room on coaster stations is moved, or that the train stops sooner in the station. The alpha build has the coaster control room so close to the loading platform that real people would struggle to get on.
Also, the train stops right at the end of the station. In real life, that would put the front row in danger of falling forward and onto the track (or down a large drop of the station is raised) as there are no barriers.
I appreciate that it's alpha and suspect that this will be sorted later. :)
Still can't believe how good the game looks at this early stage!! :)

A round house track, so that it looks like you're going straight, but the round house rotates and clicks to a different track.

I really hope we can get better supports, i like to build with 4 length units but that means the coaster supports are so close to eachother and it just looks messy

a support intensity slider or custom supports are a must!

Maybe also better support so you can add nodes in the track like in No Limits 2. So you have better control over your track once it's already built or finished.

That would make it so much better to create smooth realistic coasters.

Wonderfull idea's!!
For me number one would be more than one train on the coaster so queue times could be shorter (your idea of making the number of cars/train depent on the number of people in the queue would also be great).

Also: I'm just watching a video on Youtube of a coaster being build. The guy building it (BAStartGaming) initially states that he wished it could have been a wooden coaster. They're not in alpha2 yet so we'll have to wait for that BUT this gets me to the following "want to have" functionality: Make it possible to change the coaster type (keeping in mind that not all coasters will have loops, etc) so you could build a coaster in one type and later (when more options and scenery become available) change it to another coaster type.
