Coaster types and their real life counterparts

Hello.

I found this list on Reddit.

https://www.reddit.com/r/PlanetCoaster/comments/60k1wb/the_roller_coasters_of_planet_coaster_roller/

It list which real coasters Planet coaster has.

But what I am missing from that list is what is its name in Planet Coaster as Planet Coaster has its own names on the coasters. For example Torque, Wendigo etc.

Really I would love a site with list of the coaster types and comparisons. Is it gentle for body to ride? or will it be a rough ride? Does it have high friction? etc etc etc.

Helena,
if you want to know and explore more about ALL the coasters on this planet (earth) you might want to browse the Rollercoaster Data Base (www.rcdb.com).
It has pictures and stats of every existing (stationary) coaster and it is constantly updated. If available it also links to Youtube videos.

But it doesn't have Planet Coaster coaster names, which was my question? I tried to enter Torque but it did not enter any result nor Planet coaster so I do not think they have fictional coasters listed.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. :)

I am interested in real life coasters so I need to learn the types, their makes etc. I know about Liseberg's coasters but I need to know more about others and expand my knowledge and also use that in game.

I know mostly about Schwarzkopf's steel looper coaster because that's one of the most common kind for me to ride on (in the past but also now, with the Lisebergsbanan for example).

And yes I want Frontier to add it to game. ;) Even if it is just a cosmetic change.

And hey add Mack because, hey, Helix. :D

A Mack Mega Coaster with launched capabilities would be the best thing ever to add to the game. And not only because it is my favorite coaster type.. [rolleyes] It allows for such unique layouts, the possibilities would be endless! Perfect for a game like Planet Coaster. I mean, yeah, there is the Premier launched coaster (torque) that, in the game, technically could make the same layouts as a Mack launched coaster. But come on, if you even have a tiny interest in coaster you know that it doesn't make any sense. It's like saying you can use the B&M floorless (werewolf) to make a Wild Mouse. [haha]

I suggested this in another thread already, but how awesome would Mack inspired ride pack be? Including the Mack Wild Mouse, powered, mega/launched (having both launch and lift hill capabilities making it very flexible!) and of course the super splash.

Yes.
For me it is ok to be added as "cosmetic" change only, of course new coaster type but the coding can be same as other suitable track+train. Or something. Same for Schwarzkopf looper.

But then of course the die hard coaster enthusiasts will balk and want perfect tuned values. [wacky]

Of course it needs its own tuned values, like friction. [tongue] How the coaster behaves is a huge part of a coaster's identity.

Of course. I just thought if there's existing that is very close to the desired it could be copied over. But of course it is better to be diligent here.

The omission of the Schwarzkopf styled coasters (WIld Cat, Jumbo Jet/Speed Racer, Looping Coaster) is really, really sad! These classic rides -all of them were revolutionary and helped to evolve the steel coaster to what it is today- are still found in parks all around the world. Not only do they look fantastic, timelessly modern, they also offer amazing and fun rides to this very day!
Since the track-design for the Steel Hydra/Suspended Coaster is very similar to the Schwarzkopf looping track they can just flip it around. [big grin]
PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE consider these rides for a future update!

But... in the same way as those pioneers created something new... you can create a schwarzkopf looper in Planet Coaster already. Just gotta think outside the box and use the tools they have already given you.

This was my first attempt just now (shape is wrong but it was quickest to use pre-made loop to test the theory)

This is where I'm at right now. I'll change the entry/exit angles to be survivable once I've perfected the alignment of the rails and the loop support.

I admit the train I have used here isn't the best fit, but the track is pretty darned close and to all intents and purposes this will be a schwarzkopf looper, it will look like one, ride like one and could be very authentic if I recreate an existing track layout and surrounding theming.

Using the same technique as here, you could also create any of the other various designs of loop the pioneers experimented with I think. There isn't very much we can't do now collisions have been allowed :)

Hi Deuce,
that box track /loop support you made looks absolutely impressive!

Although -you said it yourself- we don´t have the correct trains to use. In a game like Planet Coaster you shouldn´t have to use clunky 6-seater Premier trains (they don´t even use bogies, for crying out loud) instead of sleek, bogied 4-seater trains like Schwarzkopf, Intamin, Mack, etc.
That´s like asking for a Ferrari and getting a Volvo.
Or wanting an Espresso and getting a Frappucino.

The only classic 2-by-2 seating trains we have in game is the American Arrow. The last Arrow looper was built -after a long pause- in 1999!

A game that prides itself in its realism, absolutely needs these classic and modern rides.

I think though that Planet Coaster, more than anything, prides itself on creativity - although the realism is also very good. And by implementing systems the way they have, and giving us the flexibility and freedom to build and combine, they have certainly given us the tools to create at least a very good approximation of most things. But I too would like to know why we can't select different car types for each coaster, it seems like a fairly obvious missed opportunity to expand what can be achieved with coasters.

That said, I don't agree that the game 'needs' each type of commonly available ride, by each manufacturer in order to be realistic - it would be great, but imagine the cost and time involved. There must be 100+ coasters and flat rides that exist in several parks around the world that aren't in the game... But what is in the game does make it possible to create a highly realistic park with as much variety as any real world park.

I think if I re-created a real world park that had a Schwarzkopf looper at the centre, most people would instantly get that 'it's a Schwarzkopf looper' So it's no longer a 'need', more of a 'nice to have' extra coaster type for the future. I'm sure that won't have escaped Frontier's thought process as of course it's the sort of DLC they could charge for down the line lol!! But that's fine too, the game is already comprehensive enough to justify the original price, so if they keep working on it, i'm happy to pay a little more.

It's true we can't have every coaster type in the game, but it's sad we don't have some more of the common coasters. Instead we got a bunch that don't give us many options if you want to stay realistic. Yes, you can be creative and use another coaster type as a replacement, like the torque, but that feels so out of place and unrealistic. It would be like saying you could replace a pine tree with a palm tree or something. [haha]

Wow that looks stunning but it'd be better if the devs add various types of supports in games [up]
