Cobra: C2 / C1 lasers and MCs?

I read in a few threads now that some people have C2 and C1 lasers and multi-cannons in their weapon hard points. The best I've found are F2s and G1s. I asked in several threads where people have obtained them, but no answer yet.

Been to high tech and high population systems and can't find any pulse lasers or MCs that are better than what I have. Have these become very rare weapons like overcharged etc., or were they totally removed from the release version?

If anyone has found any in the release version can they say what system type/name they found them please?

they are talking class, and you are rating they aren't the same thing. Class is the size really, and rating is how good it is (at that size)

at a guess on a cobra C1 and C2 means class 1 and class 2, ie a short way to talk about which gun size they are fitting

eg on mine i started with fixed class 2 multis and gimbled class 1 multis (i like multies :) )

so try re-reading those posts you were looking at with that in mind, see if it makes more sense that way

(C)lass 1 and 2, as in the size of the weapon mount. There are no "other" lasers than the ones you've already found so there's no need to say for example "F" 2 laser.

It's a slang term, and has nothing to do with the letter rating on weapons.

There are no higher rated weapons of the same class, that letter rating is used to compare all other weapons against each other.

For example, all Class 1 Fixed Pulse Lasers are rated F. All Class 1 Gimbal Pulse Lasers are rated G, because fixed do more damage than gimbal. Class 2 Beam Lasers are rated D, etc.

There are no D, C, B, A rated Class 1 Fixed Pulse Lasers. That's not how the rating system works for weapons. You use the letter to compare effectiveness against all other weapons.

For my Cobra's medium hard point I can only find 2 types of gimballed lasers or multi-canons and the same for the small hardpoint. Anything that has a higher class rating is usually turreted from what I have seen, I have only been to about 10 high tech systems though.

I guess FD won't be publishing the details of all the weapons available, as it's part of the fun to find it. Quite sure there will be a list appear online over the coming months (if there is not already) with all possible weapons size's and classes discovered so far.

It will also be easier enough for FD to add 'AA' class etc as time goes on, as some people have so much cash now they will be running out of stuff to upgrade!

edit...I might be getting the class and grade mixed but don't have the game open.

Okay thanks guys. A bit confusing if people are using the same letter/number monikers as slang rather than the official rating/class, but good to know I'm not missing anything.

I beg to differ, weapons are like all other upgrades c1 is rating c class 1, c2, is the same rating but bigger class, b2 is better rating.


Rating is to do with heat generated, capability at that class size, power and weight.

Class is size. I have upgraded my multi cannons to d1 and d2, and my laser to c2.... Next step is a2 laser at 1.6 mil cr. Yet to find somewhere that does a rated weapons.
