Ship Builds & Load Outs Cobra Loadout?

Contemplating upgrading to a Cobra from My
Sidewinder soon and was wondering what would be a
good load-out for A Smuggler/Bounty Hunter?
I have a Million Credits give or take at the moment
as well, will that be enough to outfit it real well?
Thanks everyone.:D

Probably something like this. The cell bank will keep your shields up long enough to kill most things up to about a Python assuming you fire them at the right time. Would advise going for A grade thrusters/shields/powerplant before taking on Anacondas.
Jump range is low because FSD is expensive and you really need to go A grade to get real distance. Take down a few good wanted targets worth 40,000 or so and you'll have that 1.6mil in no time :)

Remember when fighting bigger ships to target enemy powerplant from the subsystems menu or using the cycle subsystems key, those pulse lasers will destroy enemy modules quite specifically :)
Also remember the cobra is the fastest ship there is so feel free to run from any fights you can't win :)

Edit: Upgrades in order:
Powerplant
FSD if needed
Shield
Thrusters
Kill warrant scanner
Sensors
Life support

Should bring you to something like this eventually:

Maybe swap for Medium beam lasers and small multicannons and maybe shield booster instead of chaff but thats personal preference.

An A-rated Cobra costs at least 8 million. But with 1 million you have enough money to buy a standard Cobra and upgrade it into a fine ship for smuggling. After that, smuggling earns you enough money to gradually upgrade it into an A-rated bounty hunter ship. I recommend upgrading thrusters first because that makes the Cobra the fastest ship in the game. You can outrun everyone thus avoiding fights and having to spend much money on weapons and shields initially (ideal for a smuggler).

Here's one just under 1.5 mil, decent range and cargo capacity, if you want shield cells and KWS you'll need a bigger power plant, the pulse turrets could be swapped for m-cannons for less power draw.

A smuggling ship needs to run cool so perhaps a Diamondback Scout is worth a look, better range and it'll run cooler too, less cargo though

Thanks for the tips guys !
I'm wondering if it is worth adding any cargo bays
at all if I am just smuggling most of the time for others?
I mean if I have a Cobra with 40T Available Cargo, Am
I going to get Missions to deliver that much?

Most smuggling missions I've seen tend be be less than 20 T but you might get two or more at the same station, I did try one in the Beta with the Diamondback and it was capable of running silent for over 5 minutes without heat-sinks and that was a standard build not a low energy one (standard build around 23% low energy around 17%). In fact I saw a video on the forum recently with players using it for combat without shields and using low energy weapons (m-cannons etc) the other ships simply couldn't detect them on scanners, so it might be worth trying some armored bulkheads and no shields for a smuggling DB-S that'll also give you more cargo space.

Here's a DB-S build, the power dist can be disabled once you set the power balance

Just tried the DB-S with no shields and it'll run at 17% heat even 14% if everything except the sensors, thrusters, life support and power plant is off, TBH it really doesn't need heat sinks for smuggling as I flew it out of a Coriolis in silent running until I was far enough away to jump,
I auto landed at an outpost in silent running (the pad was on the far side so worst case I reckon) and even without heat sinks the ship got up to 82%, I think there's more to be had from the DB-S, smaller power plant, power dist (if it's disabled once set you have the performance with no power draw).

I have 1.5 Mil now, I may wait until I have about 3
before buying/outfitting.
:)

Remember rebuy/insurance costs. If you don't have enough bank to rebuy you might be sitting in that Sidewinder again. My fully outfitted (A-grade) Cobra is nearly 600k cr for rebuy. That's the 95%; have the other 5% in 'cash' or drop some gear during a rebuy. Good idea to have 2x+ the rebuy amount. Of course, rebuy is much less for the basic Cobra so you can at least get started in one. I function as a Rares Trader with lots of Bounty Hunting along the trade routes.

Wow, so I'm in the same boat as W0LV3R1N3 and I was pondering what I should shoot for next (no pun intended) - I've got a pimped out A-class Sidewinder that is an efficient bounty hunter now...but this is just highly appealing - so I clicked thru to the loadout and YES that is a lean/mean smuggling machine for CHEAP... also while bounty hunting I've been noticing how easily shield-free Diamondback Scouts have been slipping my targeting and KWS - they've easily been the most annoying ship to kill (maybe other than those ships the jump out at 5% hull)!

Thanks for sharing.
