PvP Cobra MK 3 for PVP

Are there any player groups that use the Cobra MK 3 for PVP I am working on a build and would like some tips for the MK 3.

Thanks

Also would be interested in any cobra mkiii groups out there. PvP it’s a good ship but needs a wind to pull down the pythons and FGS out there.

Fly safe cmdr, fly fast

I'm not a player group, but I pirate commanders in a Cobra MkIII.

Is piracy your goal, or are you looking for straight-up fights with other players?

I salute you. I would only salute you more if it was a Cobra Mk4. :D

You use the hatch break and scavenge type of piracy or you ask them to drop?

I am not wanting to pirate specifically but would like to fly a wing with some smaller ships to work in community goals to discourage some of the griefers that are out there. I would like to rely more on learned skills than the size of the ship in combat.....but I have yet to learn the skills if that makes any sense

Cobra MkIV is not an option for me - no raider ship kit ;)

I first request a drop of cargo. If they don't comply, I start launching hatchbreakers.

@OP -filling the Cobra's internals with HRPs and a MRP gives you a nice hull tank. Low emissions powerplant, G5 dirty drives and some heat sinks and chaff give you stealthy options. I can't advise you much on weapons - mine are primarily to disable and damage, not kill quickly.

One of the great things about the Cobra is that it's cheap to rebuy - fly it like you stole it and don't be afraid to try out new stuff!

Good luck against the greifers - they are bad for my business!

I don't think a Cobra is the best ship for that. A Viper III would be better. For anything PvP, you need speed - something like 600+m/s. You can start in a Sidewinder, then work up through Eagle, Imperial Eagle, Viper and Imperial Courier, all of which can be fitted with enhanced thrusters, which are more or less essential for what you want to do. With any of those ships, you can be the aggressor. It won't take long before they block you.

Are you the famous Marra Morgan of the Pegassi Sector?

Putting a vote in for the iCourier here. Excellent small ship to get into PvP with. Fast, excellent shields, 4 utility slots, good hardpoint layout if you weren't planning on running standard missiles. Basically impossible to kill if you choose not to die.

Problem with the cobra, like many ships with C4 thrusters, is that it still has "small ship" level durability but because it just misses out on PE thrusters doesn't get their insane speed boost. If you wanted to use one you'd need to have fairly good agility control. On top of that it doesn't get wonderful hardpoint convergence.

Shame because pre-engineers, the cobra was notoriously quick, and a couple in a wing could conceivably harass a meta FDL until forced to withdraw.

If I had to recommend a build for you I'd possibly suggest something like this and gitting gud on manoeuvres, but given the choice, I'd recommend the iCourier as above.

If you want any test fights or in-game assistance on PC just add "CMDR StiTch!" and we'll talk.

In the past Cobra Mk III was a fun little PvP ship with unmatched boost speed (before engineers, before silent running nerf).

I had silent running Cobra with stacked HRPs. Many things have changed since. I wouldn't use it for PvP combat now.

Have u tried a armored mine bomber cobra? I still use it and its viable against the big 3

Um... you're not the police, are you?

I've never tried it, but I've seen a video of someone doing just that in a Viper Mk III. It was funny :)

It's harder in a viper due to the hardpoint placement. On a cobra it is a ton of fun! Both ships are awesome little fighters when engineered

The Cobra Mk III is an amazing ship, especially for PvP. It's got an almost perfect front profile which allows it to dodge ships with poor hardpoint convergence up close. It also has space for hurps n murps and whilst its own hardpoint convergence isn't great, that's its only weakness. It won't catch a Courier or Imp Eagle but... Oh well? It can catch just about everything else though. It'll make the Viper its biznitch any day of the week.

Hello! Thanks for the kind words. Marra, Jemine, and I all put a lot of effort into the stories and it's always gratifying to see that people read them. I'll have you know that I just completed a Kyndi novella if you're looking for some light reading! And I'd recommend checking out Jemine's page if you haven't already!
