Cobra Mk 4: open it up for everyone to buy this Xmas during Special Effect Livestream

Just give the thing away to everyone who pledges £5 (or more) earth money during the charity livestream.

The kinder-in-need win, commanders win and get to fly this ahem gem of a ship, and those who complain about it look like monsters. As an alpha backer LEP guy I a) don't care about its exclusivity now and b) want its exclusivity to be used as leverage in a meaningful way that helps people out.

Even better, FDev could announce that the Cobra IV will be available to people who donate, then once they have the money, change their minds and announce that they're not going to stick to their written agreement after all.

People seem fine with that kind of behavior, so no big deal.
Zing!

.... then there would be those who would consider actual ship sales in the store to be Pay-2-Win and uncomfortably similar to practices undertaken by "other" games.

There is a difference between actual ship sales and selling ship availability as an expansion - the former is pay 2 win, the later is technically not (at least no more than premium expansions are).

How about just give it to all existing players for Xmas? Or unlock it in the stores or what not.

Im not pledging money to fly a dumpsterfire around.

Though if people wanna I will make a MKIII in protest and destroy every MKIV that i come across.

You forgot to mention: That it could only be used for power play, in open mode only.

Did I just mention, in another thread; the same faces, throwing salt?

Lets just rewind a bit:

This is for charity- Special Effect, and its for those people who don't have access to the CM4, and would behave just like the festive paints do in a time limited way.

The key word is charity, its not FD creaming more profit.

Are people on this forum so screwed up they'd not go for this? Personally for me it would be a great fund raiser for a good cause and stop the pay to win Hodor forehead people from conspirisising FD making more cash.

See the thing is a fair amount of "Charities" only serve really to pay thier CEOs with a fat load of tax breaks.

Charity should be shown in face, with real help, not giving money to faceless organisation whose only motivator is tax evasion.

Js.

How about FDev come up with a way of encouraging people to donate to charity that DOESN'T involve them breaking their word?

Yep, exactly why I will hand over donations to the end user and cut out the middleman.

I worked in Africa a lot (proper work not feel good work) and the thing that ground my gears the most was bumping into charity workers staying in a top hotel and bleating about how they were going to a village to hand out footballs to the kids. So the football cost £1 and your self satisfaction visit cost how much exactly?
