Cobra mk 4?

Closer than the Mk III then? Please confirm.

Much. The class 2 hardpoints are still in the same place as on the mk3 however the 3 c1s are located above and slightly behind the mk4s cockpit in a triangular pattern.

I'm not a fan of the Slowbra. The MK III is vastly superior in speed and maneuverability.

The added issues are it struggles to power all 5 of its hardpoints and its "better armor" is exactly the same as the MK III. And no it's not good for smuggling because of it's lack of speed. It's far too slow for a small ship to be useful in combat.

All it has going for it its the hardpoint placement but due to its power issues they hardly are worth what you're giving up for them. And if you want it for its looks, I have a feel the coming ship kits will let us make the MK III look like the IV.

I say stick to the MK III or upgrade to the Asp Explorer.

Edit: Oh and just so you know, not a fan of the Vulture either. :D

Despite you being a PC player, I'll forgive you, given the helpfulness of the post. (+1 rep natch) I'm intrigued by the hardpoint config though. The existing Mk IV is ill-suited to multi-role, but what about as a lightweight combat alternative to the Vulture? Any thoughts?

Speaking as a player that have only died to NPCs twice since I started paying this game, I fill I have a good grasp on all of the ships in a fight.

Even with the upcoming upgrades the Engineers can provide the MK IV is still far to lacking in to many areas in combat.

If you want an lightweight combat alternative to the Vulture, the closest ship in the fleet that fits that role would be the Imperial Courier. Though for me personally, unless your aim is pvp and/or only use fixed weapons, I'd just go with the MK III.

Well, that smells like vindication. Thanks so much for your input. :D

Now a days I notice people have this stigma of (if its not agile as the vulture, it's probably bad)

If i can pilot the FGS, the mk 4 will shine

Having flown the MkIV on PC I can say it is not a fighter. Not even close. It terms of it's mobility and Agility it's on par with a Python. Not being comparable to the Vulture has nothing to do with people's negative opinion of the MkIV's combat capabilities.

I've done a few builds on Coriolis.io and I reckon that on paper at least, it doesn't look too promising. That said, things on paper very rarely transfer into the practical side of things so I'm looking forward to getting my grubby little Toad paws on a Mk4 and putting it through it's paces :D

I'm pretty sure FD have designed it to shine in at least a couple of roles, probably not combat but the proof is in the flying! :D

Can dogfight if flown by a skilled pilot, but you'll need to know how to use your opponent's speed against them.

As a combat craft it's far better suited to ground attack. The narrow weapon harmonisation is part of this.

It's nasty!
i bought one as soon as Horizons launched and only used it a couple of times. It steers like a cow. Keep the mk 3 or save for a bit longer.

It's only nasty in a dogfight. It works extremely well as a hauler, or miner.
