Cobra MK III Frame Shift Drive Upgrade bug?

Just upgraded my Cobra MK III to Frame Shift Drive A2. Instead of increasing the jump range it has reduced it to 3.22 LY. This is much lower than the default range for a Cobra.

Not sure if this could be a bug, anyone had this problem?

A2 is a class A, but size 2 FSD.

Your previous was either a size 3 or 4 (dont remember), so even tho its a better class, its a lower size, not up to the task of heaving that ship around as well.

Thats what the "optimal mass" of the FSD means... how much it can handle. I bet your cobra is around 300, the FSD supports around 200... thus the lousy range.

You need to be using class 3 or 4 modules on the Cobra.

I think the lower the number the smaller the ship it can be used on. The letter denotes the grade or quality of the module.

At least I think that's how it works, it isn't very clear or well documented.

You need a Class 4 FSD. An A4 drive will set you back about 1.6 million credits and your Cobra will jump somewhere over 20 light years with one fitted.

It now clear. Thanks.

Had to reset by purchasing a Sidewinder, then buying back a Cobra with default settings.

You can check the effect the upgrade has on jump range by looking at the panel in the bottom left when you select ( but not yet buy) the new module. .
