Cobra MK III optimal bounty hunting set up.

Anyone out there in the black with advice on equipping a Cobra MK III for bounty hunting, my current set up uses up energy like there is no tomorrow and my hide keeps getting kicked
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Get the best shields you can afford, stuff it full of armor.

Get the best power plant you can afford.

Attach Plasma accelerators and two small multicannons.

Run D rated Life support and sensors, to save power and weight.

Set Thrusters and FSD to priority 1. Everything else two or lower. If your plant takes a hit, you'll still be able to fly to safety.

Target power plants, and crush anything in a 1 on 1 engagement.

The Cobra Mk III, truly the greatest ship in the game. There's one word for this brig. Armour. So much armour. The armour potential on this ship is huge, and that's made even better by its low height profile. Personally, I would fit a size 4 bi-weave, two size 4 HRP's, one size 2 MRP, an FSD interdictor size 2, and either an SCB size 2A or another size 2 MRP in the final slot.

Core internals. A-rate the thrusters, A/B-rate the power plant. (B-rate has higher integrity. Don't discredit that on a hull tank, which this is). A/B-rate the FSD, making your choice for the same reason. A = performance. B = armoured.

Best possible power distributor. That's non-negotiable. 3A or don't bother.

Your choice on the life support and sensors. Doesn't really matter in real terms.

At least military grade bulkheads. Personally, I think reactive is better. But military grade is fine. Don't touch mirrored. Terrible.

Fuel tank. If you really want to squeeze performance out, there's no reason you can't shave off 8t by downgrading to a size 3 fuel tank. You'll have to land for fuel more while travelling, but the Cobra can do it. What's more, is you'll get a bit better agility in your business system. Every little helps!

Utilities. Two chaff for survival. One chaff/one KWS for profit. One chaff/one HSL if you equipped an SCB.

Weapons. Reliable choice is two medium multicannons and two small laser weapons. But you have plenty of room to experiment, so on weapons, I say do just that. Experiment! Just don't bother with missiles or torpedoes. Useless for sustainable combat.

And the engineering options you have are huge!

Works for me.

You may want to put a KWS somewhere, I don't use them myself.

Folks will say that turreted beams on a Cobra, are just not done. Well for a start; they use less power, so think about it.

Have fun and stay well away from, CZs; until you really know your stuff.

Those turrets are great. They work well.

I would say stick to top sensors, which means with most NPCs below Elite ranks, will be seen, before they see you.

I suppose it depends on skill level of the individual. You are absolutely correct though, in saying A-rated sensors are objectively the best.

Man, you guys really just made me want to take up bounty hunting again and I do have a Cobra that I was using for smuggling.... should be a quick and relatively cheap transition....

I had kind of hit a wall after reaching Baron and getting my Clipper (which I absolutely love, thing handles like a dream), haven't decided what I want to do. Space cowboy it is then! *que Cowboy Bebop theme*
