Cobra MK III Weapon combination.

Really it's up to you. The largest majority of Cobra pilots seem to prefer beam/multi gimbals either in C2/C1 or inverted C1/C2 setups.

For myself though, I tended to prefer single C2 gimbal beam and triple MC to preserve WEP capacitor.

I believe that a combination of Beams, for shields, and Multi-cannon, for hulls is the most common arrangement. It is what I use. The best Class 1 weapons you can get are F rated/fixed or G rated/unfixed, and the best Class 2 weapons are E/F rated in the same fashion.
.
To get the best balance between burning shields, and cracking hulls I like to have one Beam and one M/C in each of the classes. So I have one each class 1 and one each class 2 weapons. all are gimbled, so I can make up for my mediocre piloting skills. That leaves me with F and G rated weapons.

Is this right:
1st and 2nd - Beam Laser,
3th and 4th - Multi - Cannon Gimbled?

1st: Fixed Beam
2nd: Gimballed Rail - these are beasts
3/4: Gimballed MC's

I did go with 2 Rail's for a bit, but thats limiting on ammo (30 per). I find that I can really nail people with big chunks from the Rail, slowly tear down shields with the Beam, and pepper with the MC's. It does mean that I have to leave conflict zones to get more ammo, but I can be devastating in short bursts while fully tooled. An unshielded eagle gets torn to pieces faster than I can KWS them. Same with a Viper / Sidewinder. Of course, when they do have shields thats different..

I plan on using at least one Rail when I go buy an Asp.

It is the most common fitting for a cobra,
yet you might have a hard time against asps and upwards.

Never liked this 0815 fits.

I don't have problems with ASPs, Type 7, Federal Drop Ship, Imperial Clippers and Anacondas from Mostly Harmless, Novice, Harmless to Master, Expert, Elite, (beyond this ranks i have much trouble) Dangerous and Deadly rip me apart because of their weapon configuration, Armor, Shields. Ofc, i attack only Sidewinder, Adders and Cobras with Deadly and Dangerous rank.

A correction for Anacondas, Imperial Clippers and Federal Drop Ship rank Master, Expert, Elite, Dangerous and Deadly - I attack only in group, with strong allay only if they go first, and wait to be damaged under 40% or less by allay.

I call shenanigans. There are no gimbaled railguns.

That or every station I've visited has been hiding them.
