I wouldn't necessarily say that nobody cares about.
The fact that it repeatedly comes up in discussions when people attempt to purchase it and then find that they can't.
The fact that the debates repeatedly drop into three camps:

I chased squirrels for a week in 2016 only to find out that I had lost access to Mk IV two weeks earlier when the Horizons campaign ended.
I do not understand how they do not warn you when you buy the game, until today.

How difficult to give this simple warning can be?
especially in a game that we can only buy ships ha.........(another subject filed in the folder of things that do not make sense in ED)
