Ship Builds & Load Outs Cobra MKIII - Good retrofit to include fuel scoop

Hello to all,

So I'm still a bit new and trying to figure out a few things here and there with Elite Dangerous (Horizons). At one point I had a fuel scoop, but when I upgraded my ship I ended up throwing a bunch of different things I thought I needed on there. Recently though, I found myself stuck in a system without fuel on my way to Ngalia. Fortunately for me, Fuel Rats saved the day and brought me some fuel and I completed my journey (that team rocks!).

When I docked, I started looking at what I could replace in order to add a fuel scoop so I can limit these experiences of not having enough fuel. I'm not really sure though. I'm kind of a generalist at the moment, so I scan, mine asteroids, mine planet surfaces, transport cargo (not too much though) and even encounter the random dog fights here and there.

While looking at my current internals... I realized I'm a bit stumped, so I thought I'd share what I have and see what suggestions might come in to help.

Ship: Cobra MKIII

Core Internals:
  • 1C Lightweight Alloys
  • 4D Power plant
  • 4E Thrusters
  • 4E Frame shift drive
  • 3E Life support
  • 3D Power distributor
  • 3E Sensors
  • 4C Fuel tank (cap: 16)

Optional Internals:
  • 4E Cargo rack (cap: 16)
  • 2G Planetary vehicle hangar
  • Scarab vehicle bay
  • 4E Shield generator
  • 2E Refinery
  • 1E Frame shift drive interdictor
  • 1E Basic discovery scanner
  • 1I Planetary approach suite

So... what would you suggest I replace to get a fuel scoop on there... or... what would you suggest for a good generalized fitting until I decide to specialize?

Hopefully I put this thread in the right area.

Thanks!

hey,

I'm a cobra mkIII enthusiast myself - but your build looks as if you lack serious funding to equip a cobra mkIII.

at least you should have the money to

a) d-class all internals
and
b) b-class your frameshift drive.

i personally swap between a class 2 fuelscoop and a class 4 fuelscoop (for travelling), i don't have a fsdi equipped on my cobra, and no refinery if i don't go mining - and anyway "serious" mining needs prospector limpets and collector limpets...

so, get rid of that refinery, till you plan to go mining - and git rid of your fsdi, and you have two free internals, where you can fit a safety fuelscoop (class 2) or a travelling fuelscoop (class 4).

fly safe!
