Cobra MKIII

I'm disturbingly fond of my T6 - far more capable in many roles than it's lowly price and repair costs might suggest. Whilst it is useless in a fight, it is however very good at running away :)

All said, I do agree and I return alarmingly often to the Cobra, and every single time I get 'back in' I have a silly smile borrowed from my younger self as I find myself settled comfortably back in 1984... muttering 'to infinity and beyond', 'by Grabthar's Hammer', 'shut up Wesley' and a few other 'choice' utterances...

:D

The ship looks awesome but I just dont find it usefull outside of search and rescue missions or low scale trading with good that may not be fully legal

I don't know why I can't get into the ship. I have tried several times but it just does not grow on me. I actually like the Cobra Mk IV though. It certainly looks much better than the Mk III.

Burn the heretic, burn him!!!

:D

(Actually, I feel the same way about the Asp... it's just never 'grabbed me'...)

Well the MKIV look cool and i would love have that hardpoint number and placement on the MKIII but the speed is awfull and the manoeuvrability too.

Why bother with a Cobra Mk 4, when you can use a Python? The Mk 3 can at least outrun and/or outmaneuver a Python... The Mk 4 not even that ;)

The Cobra MK3 is my ship of choice for smuggling. Granted, it doesn't have the best FSD range or the biggest cargo hold, but it's the fastest hunk of junk in normal-space and can outrun any police ship before a scan can be completed.

I have about 1500 hours logged an the extent of my experience with the cobra MKIII is the 5 mins it took to fly it to my home station and store it. I did play about an hour with the MKIV in a conflict zone though, it seemed to be fine until i got shot at and i realised how squishy it was. I took it home with a breached hull at 15%. Will probably not be touching again. I don't really like multipurpose ships. I only started liking the clipper with Horizons because i can put a vehicle in it and still not lose any vital module.

Because I like the ship. I enjoy it for combat too. Unlike all the crazy people who say it can't fight, well it can. I'm a multi billionaire and the Python gathers the most dust of my multirole ships. It is a good ship but it is the least fun for me to fly.

I think it's just almost what I want it to be, but it doesn't have the internals to really let me do all the stuff I want to do, where the cobra IV does because of those dreamy internals. It is however, super fun to fly, nothing like 450m/s out of stations under or above other ships with some hot cargo on board. All that speed may not be necessary, but when the toaster rack flies by that fast it's just joyous, especially unshielded.

Definitely not a ship I spend a lot of time flying though, mostly due to the seating arrangement. :(

Except for the low number of utility mounts, and the fact that it can only fit 2 medium hardpoints, I also found the Cobra to be the most versatile and fun ship to fly. The "and" is important here. Other ships have more versatility, but aren't quite as much fun.

I went from a MKIII to a Vulture, and found that my bounty hunting efforts were rewarded much more efficiently. HOWEVER, despite its fighting prowess, the vulture just doesn't have the versatility of the cobra.

I'm currently in an Asp, and trying my hand at small-time mining. Really missing the responsiveness, speed, and maneuverability of the cobra right now. Small things, like docking and landing on planets, are just that much more difficult with the hefty aft of the Asp. I've "drifted" into more asteroids than I'd care to admit to with that bloated ship, while I could flit between them effortlessly in my old cobra.

I played almost 2000hs this game, i test almost all the ships and i have to say it.
the Cobra MKIII is the best ship ever i LOVE it so much.

same here! especially as a mission-runner ... at the weekend i was running a lot of missions, changed from my python back to the cobra - it just does it faster! or just flying around. i sometimes miss a little more combat ability (e.g.: you can't loose in a cobra, but you can't clear a distress call either...), that's were i choose a vulture or courier. but cobra is my ship-to-go.

Wish it had more utility mounts, though

sure.

The Cobra Mk III for the Club 84 members is a moment in time many years ago when we knew everything and would live forever. It is a connection to the past we will never forget and remember fondly.
