Cobra MKIII

same here! especially as a mission-runner ... at the weekend i was running a lot of missions, changed from my python back to the cobra - it just does it faster!
Same here. Even though I have an A-rated Python, the Cobra has pretty much become my everyday ride again.

I love the Cobra MkIII ...
I love seeing what an ASP looked like before it grew up. :D
Initially the Cobra Mk III was a stepping stone on my way to the Asp.
And I sold the one I had, to afford it.
But soon I realized what I mistake I had made.
The Asp is a good ship, but the Cobra Mk III is a great one. :)

It's good that you've found a ship you love. For some reason I love the Asp. I own two and I sold an A-spec Cobra tonight to part finance the second one. The superb view is the winner for me especially for planetary landings. The Cobra is great fun to fly though because it's so nippy. The interior is 'basic' though even compared to an Asp!
I think it's wonderful that we get attached to specific ships and that there's no ideal solution. It adds colour to the game.

The view from the Asp is truly exquisite.
In the Asp you sit there on the edge of forever, with nothing but the dash and canopy between.
And I like it alot. :)
But the Cobra Mk III is like sitting in a late 60's american sports car - give it the boost and you'll hit top speed in no time.
I really like that feeling. :)
And it has a good range of paint jobs. ;)

Love the MkIII! So fun to fly. I have 4 or 5 of them parked at various locations where I did localized smuggling prior to the addition of long-range smuggling.

For you MkIII fans who pre-ordered Horizons, check your paint job options in outfitting. You may have a set of Horizons skins that I think are pretty cool. It was a pre-order incentive that I think may have only been sent out on Twitter. At least I was not aware of them myself until someone mentioned it in another forum thread.

uh! i was wondering where those paintjobs were coming from ... and checking my account history...

My cobra is my favorite ship too. I've made a fortune using it in robigo and haven't been scanned once. Gotta love that speed! I've got over 100 mil in my wallet and don't know what to spend it on since I doubt I'll like anything more than my cobra

This is what the Cobra is like:
And all ships with the name Cobra, should be like this, in some way.

My first pirate ship.... Memories...
I'm on to the Asp for pirating now but the cobra was AWESOME. Nothing could catch me. Decent enough cargo space. Good jump range. my only minor gripe was weapons placement. I used 3 gimballed lasers and a single medium rail.

I'm with you OP.

I love the Cobra MkIII as well. Even though I have much more expensive ships in my hangar I always come back to the Cobra, it just puts a smile on my face. It can do just about anything and do it well, I've explored, traded, run missions, claimed hundreds of bounties all in this one ship and it's one of the first ships I bought.

Looks great, flies great, adaptable, fast, nimble and fantastic value.... and in 1984 it was the ship of my dreams...love it.

I started this game last year as a trader and managed to work my way up to a T6 and about 1.5 million credits, just through trading and some safe, low-paying courier missions. I also bought a Cobra MkIII, but it was kept locked away at my home base in Cosi for a long time. I then had several months off playing the game, and when I came back to it, I decided to take the MkIII out for a spin. And I haven't looked back since. I've kitted it up with some better weapons and taken up a bit of bounty hunting along with other, more challenging missions, and thrown in a bit of exploration for good measure, and I made as much money as I did through trading in a matter of a few hours. I even sold my T6 today as I don't see myself going back to it.

I've been trying to work out which ship I want to upgrade to next, and *nothing* seems as good as my MkIII.

Well...
There is acutally one that can be said to come close - only my personal opinion, of course; The Imperial Clipper.
