Ships Cobra Pilots - How do you fight in this thing?

Flying a Python fitted with gimbals and turrets, Cobras are annoying if you fly straight on to a target. The wobble of gimbals will limit how often you are hit. It takes balls, but the minute you pull up the beams will slice you in half. So, straight zoom in, fire and zoom out edge on using your speed to escape. If you have high power weapons this is an excellent way to strike as it forces the other ship into a defensive posture (you control engagement).

For smaller ships, I tended to use asymetric turrets like this (T = turret, G = gimbal, F = fixed)

G++T
T+++++++++G

It meant you got almost 300 degrees of coverage with only above and behind being blocked. You could also do:

F++T
T+++++++++G

So that the fixed weapon gives you more firepower, while the wing gimbal ensures convergence on targets.

My last loadout was twin beams- mainly as with 4 pips they lasted a long time, and with FA off targetting was easy.

My loadout for my Cobra was 2 x C1/G Cannons and 2 x C2/T Pulse lasers. Personally I don't find chaff that irritating as where possible I tend to get in nice and close and pound the enemy to death.

Could just about take anything up to an Python with that setup, with military composites and A shield with A booster :).

I cant seem to find C class beams or multicannons anywhere. I seem maxxed out at D on my medium hardpoints and F on my small. Am I doing something wrong or looking in the wrong place. Corriolis seems to only offer that loadout as well. Help?:)
