Cobra Power Plant question

I finally got a Cobra today and have been picking up a few upgrades.

The standard equipment power plant is a E4 mass 10 Capacity 10.400 and Heat F

Was looking at a B3 mass 4 Capacity 11.000 and Heat C

I've read some have picked the wrong power plant and been in a bad way.

The Question is, good move or keep looking for a 4?

Not necessarily; if you're just trading a power plant one class down is a good way to shave a few tonnes off your weight and increase your jump distance. If you're running weapons though you'll probably need a class 4.

i'm using an A3 and it's drawing 98% with my configuration, as soon as i've managed to scrap up 1.5 million spare credits, first thing i'm going to do is get me an A4, at least.

Any idea where to find a Class 4 A Power Plant? Thanks!

pretty sure i saw them available in shinararta, i hope i did anyway because i sure need one!

For comparison, an A4 plant runs at ~85% capacity to power my Cobra... i.e., lots of potential for the bigger shield generator and some more energy weapons, should the need arise and the cash appear. ;-)

As with all upgrades in my opinion, the lighter the better. That said the important thing about the generator is the maximum output. This is the be all and end all limit of your ships power. If you only need 10MW then get a power planet that gives you that and is also the lightest available.

But... Beware that as soon as you need to upgrade something else your power requirements will also rise so you better make sure to keep note of locations that give you power gen upgrades also.

The power distributor is the upgrade that gives the most bang for buck. Cheap to upgrade to A rating and will give you such a power management advantage.

fair enough to go for the lightest but if you pvp, power plant is what will be shot at.. so if its low integrity itll pop easier. if you solo.. its cool. D class it all the way.

Look in high-population industrial systems. Seems that now outfitting is much less a pain, "standard" upgrades seem available easily.
Exotic ones seem as rare or more (focused weapons etc). Seems like a good solution: do not struggle for a good outfit, but keep something elusive to look for.
