Cobra weapon loadout

The Cobra has two mounts for Medium Hardpoints (max class 2), and two mounts for Small Hardpoints (max class 1).

So far I've been using Pulse Lasers (class 2, rating E) in the Medium Hardpoints, and Multi-Cannons (class 1, rating F) in the Small Hardpoints.

I've been looking for sensible upgrades without any luck.

- For the Medium Hardpoints I haven't found class 2 Pulse Lasers with ratings better than E, nor any class 2 Burst Lasers or Beam Lasers at all. They all seem to be class 1.
- For the Small Hardpoints I haven't found class 1 Multi-Cannons with a rating better than F.

What kind of upgrades would you recommend? Is it feasible to use class 1 Burst Laser or Beam Lasers in the Medium Hardpoints?

P.S. I'm only interested in Fixed weapons.

Check this, you will see there is not much left performance wise to get better. Took me a while too to find out that E Class is the best you can get.

I tend to stick with the same weapon type on all 4 hard points as m cannon have a leading aim point whereas lasers are direct on axis sighting, if you want to use both burn the shields with the lasers then kill the hull with the m cannons. I'm currently using 4 pulse lasers (gimbaled) takes a lot of power but it's very effective on small - medium sized ships, I'd been using fixed lasers but the gimbaled versions get a lot more hits.
You can use class 1 weapons in the class 2 hard point especially if you're lacking a little in the power systems (13 Mw plant + A3 power dist in mine) as to good tech locations really depends where you are, Branglal and Geawenki are good but could be hundreds of LY from you.

There are no size 2 burst lasers.

Size 2 beam lasers, of all variants, do exist.

For the Small Hardpoints I haven't found class 1 Multi-Cannons with a rating better than F.

Weapons don't vary in rating within a given class and type.

Just ignore the letters.

Not really. You will kill things, but you will kill them much faster with size 2 weapons in the size 2 hardpoints.

P.S. I'm only interested in Fixed weapons.

The size 1 hardpoints on the Cobra are very difficult to use efficiently with fixed weapons.

I'd highly recommend gimbaled weapons here.

Two class 1 weapons are generally inferior to a single class 2 weapon of the same type. Since the Cobra's class 1 mounts are such a pain to use, I found that I rarely used them except against larger targets. With that the case, I decided that Cannons were the best use of those class 1 hardpoints, as they are the most effective against those large targets while the lasers are cooling down.

I now run these fire groups, and only change to group 2 when I am in a prolonged fight.

Fire group 1 -
Primary: Class 2 Beam Lasers
Secondary: Kill Warrant Scanner + Cargo Scanner + Frame Shift Interdictor

Fire group 2 -
Primary: Class 2 Beam Lasers
Secondary: Class 1 Cannons
