Cocijo CG FSDs - it was worth it

Yes. And they are able to have an experimental effect added, like Mass Manager, which will further increase your jump range.
I purchased a size 5 FSD SCO that was the same as the reward from the CG (the one that required a Titan Drive Component) and I could not add Mass manager to it. Adding it was greyed out at Farseer and the screen instructed me it could not be modified. Even without mass manager it increased my jump range by about 5 LY.

To date, I have upgraded 29 of my ships this way, so I’m positive that it can work. Do you have all the required materials for the upgrade?

Edit:
This is what you need for each Mass Manager experimental effect:

Edit2: the following 2 are encoded materials that can be gained by scanning High Wakes, which are left behind when a ship makes a hyperspace jump. They are common outside stations and you will need to install a Frame Shift Wake Scanner to scan them to get the materials. These FSWS’s can be engineered to speed up the scan time, which is convenient but not required.

I appreciate all of your help. I had all of the components for the mass manager upgrade. Are you saying that you had 29 Titan Drive Components available to unlock 29 CG reward specific FSD's? If you didn't need Titan Drive Components to unlock the FSD;s your obtained then there is another FSD SCO available from the tech broker that is pre engineered and can have mass manager applied but that one is not the FSD from the latest CG.

I have purchased the v1 SCO FSD and applied mass manager with no problems. To be clear: Mass Manager CAN be applied to the "Cocijo CG FSDs" and V1 SCO FSD. I've done both. (They are the same module)
I have purchased the v1 SCO FSD and applied mass manager with no problems. I have all the mats for Mass manager but when I try to add it to the Cocijo FSD Farseer tells me the module is pre engineered and cannot be altered. I wish I knew what I am doing wrong.

Yes. I didn’t have all 29 TDC’s at the same time but I did purchase them one at a time from the tech broker. As I got more TDC’s, I upgraded more ships. I misspoke initially. I got some of the new SCO FSD’s from the community goal (I don’t remember how many I got from that) and I unlocked the remainder from the tech broker. But all of the ones from the CH and the unlocked ones were upgraded with Mass Manager with no issues. I have gathered several more TDC’s for future upgrades and they are stored on my FC.

But the bottom line is that the new upgraded FSD’s from the Sol CG and the tech brokers are identical in all respects. They have SCO, and are pre-engineered with both Long Range G5 AND Fast Boot G5 (which the latter also increases jump range); and these, regardless of how they were obtained, can have any of the normal experimental effects added at any engineer that can modify FSD’s. I suspect most people will add Mass Manager because it increases jump range further, and the other experimental effects are normally considered inferior, though I guess some people may disagree.

So none of this would explain why you couldn’t add the experimental effect at Farseer. To troubleshoot that further:

- have you unlocked Farseer?

- if so, to what level? (1-5). It’s been too long since I did that, and I’m not sure if you need to have her unlocked to G5 in order to install an experimental effect on a G5 module like these pre-engineered FSD’s. So this might be the issue; maybe someone else will know this for sure.

- At the risk of asking the obvious, was the new FSD installed on the ship that you tried to upgrade?

- Did you try restarting the game and trying again? (Unfortunately this game has numerous bugs where this works)

- if all else fails, as stupid as this sounds, I would try installing this FSD on another ship and trying again. I can’t think of any reason that this upgrade would fail if you had all the required materials.

First of all I am impressed you found so many Titan Drive Components. Second I figured out my mistake and was able to add the mass manager to the FSD. Thanks again for your help and patience. o7

Nope, you aren’t gonna leave me hanging.

What did you do wrong?

I am embarrassed to say but it was operator error. The option to apply mass manager was greyed out at Farseer and the screen informed me I couldn't modify the module. Then I remembered if I clicked on "level 5 increased range" on the screen the option to add an experimental would become active. My frustrating mistake.

CMDR Forbiddenlake posted that the V1 SCO FSD and the Cocijo SCO FSD's were identical modules. If that's true (and I don't doubt her) do I really need to farm for Titan drive components to purchase the Cocijo FSD or should I purchase the V1 FSD that can be purchased without Titan drive components? I also wonder if both versions of the SCO FSDs get the same LY jump distance?

The V1 FSD in the tech broker is a non-SCO FSD. A standard SCO FSD engineered the normal way will cost a fraction of the materials and have a higher jump range.

I’m glad it’s no longer a problem. Don’t be embarrassed, I can safely say that most, maybe all, long time players have had such moments. It’s a complicated game and sometimes it’s not obvious to determine how to accomplish things.
