I love cats ( owner of two cats btw ), but I think theres more important things to do in Elite.

Cats do adapt to zero-G, and their self-righting mechanisms depend on angular momentum, so they still work. It takes them a while to learn though. Here's a better clip. Notice how the kitteh extends and contracts its body to control the rate of rotation.
