Cockpit custom controls (for some cases)

Now this could seem a bit far fetched to some, yet I believe in 2017 this is rather trivial to implement.
Plus it would help in VR (not be a super help, but still).

Here it goes: Replace what the pilot holds, with 3D implementation of the actual controller (s)he uses.

I understand this would come for the most common HOTAS in the market (like Saitek X series, after all X-56 looks like it came FOR E:D, Warhog etc.).

Now for keyboard/mouse users and gamepad users, I believe the demographic is tiny of them to also want the actual game to... show the pilot controlling the ship with a gamepad or a (split?) keyboard and a mouse on a pad or something. But still possible. And also the demographic of them being VR users is even more tiny (I mean 99.99% of whatever-flight gamers, will get a HOTAS before a VR).

To take this even further, it COULD also emulate the moves of the hands properly as mapped in the game. So if someone has mapped map zoom to a rotary, then actually zooming in/out could show feedback if pilot is looking the virtual left hand. But I understand this is even more far fetched. But think how much boosts immersion (in or out of VR).

Of course since I don't see love even for simple things (that make sense and we have them since the day paper maps were created), like multiple waypoints, I don't see it happening ever.
