Would it be possible to have cockpit damage?
You're in combat and your shields fail and your taking hits to your hull, could it be possible to have some combat damage within the cockpit itself? Wires hanging down, panels shorting out/exploding, debris on the floor, cockpit lights flickering? This can only be properly fixed when at station or star port that has repair facilities.
