What's the purpose of the Cockpit Mode (switched with the default <M> key) ?

Thx... Next question. I like the AutoLanding feature in crowded dock areas like the Tetrahedron shaped facilities, but I'd like to disable it sometimes to get some landing practice without it kicking in when I slow down. Is there a way to toggle it on/off

Technically speaking, I think the Mode Switching between Analysis and Combat was added to give consoles more key bindings for their limited number due to controllers (no keyboard).

re: AutoDocking module... I was hoping for a keyboard/programmable function?
Unfortunately no key binding for turning modules on and off.
Just stick on some throttle - that overrides the DC (and the ADC undocking too).
It under Ship functions in right panel. I think second tab down, possibly the third tab but you can independently enable/disable autodock and undock without powering down the module. eg. you can set it to undock on auto but leave auto dock disabled at the same time.

The problem is when you are finalizing the approach over the pad and slowing down almost to touchdown... Whoosh... AutoDock takes over and swoops back up... Rather irritating... So I took the earlier suggestion and brought up the module page and left it there while landing in case I want to go back quickly
