Cockpit squeak.

Commanders,

I’ve not been in my ship for a while and while taking it out for a quick spin the other night I noticed a squeaking noise coming from the control stick. I haven’t really got time to start ripping panels off and tunnelling my way into wiring looms so I’m wondering if someone knows a quick fix, like squirting silicone lube down there or something. Control stick manufacturer: Saitek. Model: X52 Pro.

Smoke me a kipper.

This is for the X55 v. X52, but the concept is the same. Enjoy! :D

Use headphones. Works well against Eastenders in the background too, especially if they are noise cancelling ones :).

More seriously, a LIGHT squirt of silicon lube around the joints may help. don't use other lubricants like WD40 though as they can damage some plastics.

snip.

You'd have to poke my eyes out as well. If it ever gets past the 3rd drum hit then I'm really slacking with the remote.

That only works if you actually have any access to the remote. Apparently it being my house and my TV count for nothing in this regard :)

Nothing a large hammer can't fix. May be some collateral damage...

Lube and joysticks go hand in hand...

Seriously though, a bit of wd40?

I'd be very wary of using WD40. It's great for freeing up some rusted old tools but has a reputation of being something of a dust magnet with delicate mechanisms and may not react well with the plastics so may make things worse in the long run.

Squeaking in your cockpit? Maybe you have mice on board. Buy a ship's cat :D

Always have kitty near by.... She is ready for battle with the Thargoids :)

Back on topic, Jypson's Youtube is spot on, serviced my X52 Pro twice since owning it and its purr's like Kitty above :)

If you think a squeak is bad; have you heard the coffee machine in the FAS? It desperately, desperately needs a service.

Actually. I assume it's a coffee machine; because it actually sounds like someone using a bong. Which is hilarious, but not entirely useful. As for flight stick squeak, sounds like it's time for some suitable lubricant/ grease. The important thing will be getting stuff that doesn't break plastic down.
