Codex question

Hi all,

I am currently flying around in Hawkings Gap, seen some really nice planets. So far I confirmed about 6 codex entries.
Is it possible for me to discover something brand new things, like let's say a guardian or thargoid site, and that it will be added to the codex for other players to /confirm this?
Or is the codex already providing us with all the information/findings available in that part of the galaxy?

I kind of hoping that more is added based on player exploration, as that would make it really exciting :)

Yeah theres a few aspects to your question.

Can you find new entries for the Codex? - They may introduce new 'Rumoured' things into the Codex. 1st person to find that thing in that Sector gets their name in the Codex. Everyone else gets a separate record of what you have found and where but nobody else sees it.

Can you find new things? - Now its more finding new places where already known things are. So you could find new places or a new site but rare/impossible to find something completely new....but you never know, who knows whats out there totally undiscovered.

New Tharg / Guardian etc? - iirc someone recently found a new Guardian site, same type as others but new location. Shortly after the Halloween mystery someone found a new (but probably old and there for years) INRA site which everybody had missed.

So no you cant get your name in the Codex until some new 'rumoured' things appear, and almost certainly in Odyssey I would expect you could be first with whatever new stuff is in there, but you can 1st discover new sites and maybe just maybe find something everyone missed.

And then theres always Raxxla....whoever finds that will be universally hated by the entire community so dont mention it if you find it, keep it to yourself :)

Incorrect I'm afraid.

Rumours have been with us since the Codex launched and have never been utilized (thus far) by Frontier as a way of steering players towards something in a particular region.

The ONLY requisite for getting your Cmdr name listed in the Codex is to be the 1st person to discover something REGION SPECIFIC that hasn't been found before.

i.e Glowing Green Gas Giants - several have been found, but not in all 42 sectors yet.

Find one in a sector that doesn't currently have one listed and your Cmdr name will immediately have it listed as a 1st discovery.

No need to turn in exploration data, that just gets your Cmdr name attached to it in the system map.
