Hi the codex panel in my ship has blue circles and blue stars on some of the bio and geo pictures what do they mean

Hi the codex panel in my ship has blue circles and blue stars on some of the bio and geo pictures what do they mean

They indicate if the items are found in space the stars or on planets the circles, there is actually a key at the bottom right of the codex screen but as it is white not blue it is easy to miss also helpfully(?) the space ones are labelled as vacuum.
