Col 70 Sector

Hello,

I suspect that I'm not the first, but I tried for a half hour to reach an star in the Col 70 sector from a nearby one.. It's seems not so impossible to reach.. Anyone have tried this before?

The star is Col 70 Sector EE-K C23-1

Yes, many, with several different stars.

The destination system isn't loaded until you do a hyperspace jump there.

Meaning, you can supercruise to the location (if you have enough fuel), but you won't see anything there and your frame of reference will still be the source system.

Not possible I'm afraid... the system/instance will not load in unless you jump in from Hyperspace.
Try Hutton Orbital - at least they give you a mug for your effort :)

Oh well, at least is good to know this! :(
I need an Space Hacker in order to remove that FSD DRM..

Thanks for the info!

The game will let you "arrive" there (assuming you have enough fuel), but when you "get there", there's nothing there. No star, no planets, no secret Thargoid base, no spaceships human or alien. Nothing but empty space. The swirly hyperspace screen is a loading screen that loads such things, as well as loading the new skybox.

And yes, people have been trying this since gamma, when most of the universe was permit-locked except for a tiny cylindrical-shaped bubble of visitable stars. It's most commonly done by newbies trying to get to Sol without the permit.

Yeah you have to Hyperjump there. Elite dangerous is kinda like quantum mechanics. If you're not there to observe it, it doesn't exist. This applies to most of the galaxy. All those unexplored star systems have never existed anywhere before. The game will generate them on the go during the "jump", based on all the math. And once you jump out, they seize to exist again. This is as opposed to other types of games where maps, levels, etc already pre-exist in the data.

I dont know the exact numbers, but when i first read about this (in beta somewhere) it took more like 20h to reach the destination. And than, of course, the new star / system didnt load in.

Actually this is somewhat misleading. The systems do exist but you can think of them as 'compressed' into a system seed, which is the number that is system's unique ID. When you jump to that system, the game 'decompresses' it and creates the visuals for you to see and visit. When you leave, the system is still there but in 'compressed' mode. And of course the system seed guarantees that everyone who visits sees the same thing.
