Ships Cold Ship

It doesn't matter. He stated what was needed, and stated the rest is up to the viewer. He never specifically suggested any PP class. If that's how he wants to fly, that's up to him.

I do not quite understand the author of this video, does not he know that the higher the class of power plant the cooler it is because it is easier to do the job?
If you mean he should fit a larger power plant, than no, that does not help. A 6A power plant with the same engineering - i.e. the same heat efficienty - does not run cooler than a 3A. What he should have done, and I think that is what you mean, is fit a larger power plant and go low emissions instead of overcharging, and going up one or maybe two classes. In that I agree. But the size is irrelevant apart from low emissions having a lower power output than overcharged (naturally).

Why does he do it? Because D2EA is a typical jump range min-maxer. It's that simple. Just because you are on Youtube and have some sort of largish following doesn't mean you are right. It is a bad build, power wise, plain and simple. I don't know about the rest of the ship, because I don't want to watch the whole video. But D2EA's builds are generally mass / jump range min-maxed paperplanes.

Why does he do it? Because D2EA is a typical jump range min-maxer who frankly has little clue how to build a proper ship. It's that simple. Just because you are on Youtube and have some sort of largish following doesn't mean you were spoonfed wisdom when you were a kid. It is a bad build, power wise, plain and simple. I'm sorry I thought I didn't know something and that he wasn't wrong.
To give you an example, the Cutter, even with the shield, has a maximum speed and temperature at full throttle of less than 20%.

He's not wrong, neither are you. It's just a matter of different play-styles. I spent 5 hours scanning biologicals for about 15 mil yesterday. Many would call that stupid, I found it educational and fun.

Edit: 15 mil, not 25

Don't worry. As a general rule, the Youtubers don't know anything you don't.

Running an overcharged plant and compensating with heat sinks on a build that MUST run cold is not matter of play-style, it is unwise at the least. Doling it out as "build advice" is bad, and wrong. Not everything can be washed away with "play style". It is a bad build for the purpose it is meant for.

Watching the video, he did state "whatever you want" regarding everything except the utilities and the thermal vent lasers. He didn't go over the full build, or even supply a link. It was obviously not meant to be a build video.

Edit: This thread is about the video, right?

Mate the guys been a muppet for ages, i mean i lost interest when he didnt take Limpets, what???
Most of his ship builds are just a joke, move on.

I've got a bunch of paper airplanes in my fleet, due to following his videos in detail early on. He still offers a little helpful advice in his videos, but following them in detail is generally a bad idea. In this particular video, the list of required modules is useful. The rest can (should) be ignored. That was my point, sorry if I didn't make that clear :)

I have a few paper planes, too. But the problem is a lot of players, especially new ones, take build guides like his as the meta, take it into open, visit their first engineers, go to sol or ShinDez and then wonder and complain if they get blown up within seconds. Nothing wrong with paper plane build guides, but where you have to fault him is usually failing to mention that those ships are only good for solo. It is just bad advice all over.

I wasn't defending D2E, I was just clarifying what I got from that video (which wasn't much). It took longer for me to realize he was leaving out important details because I play exclusively solo. Once realization set in, my fleet was already a mess. My DBX and Conda are fine, but they're for exploration and general travel only. The rest of my fleet needs alot of work.

on that note, is there anything on edsy or coriolis that accurately shows what your heat's going to be?

I see heat capacty on EDSY and Coriolis has a resting heat (beta) which is exactly what I'm looking for but I question how accurate it is. anyone know?

EDSY-s heat calculations are quite accurate IME and can be trusted for guidance.

smacks lips today, we're going to smacks lips, build a shockingly bad smacks lips ship, where everything on it smacks lips is the meta smacks lips
