Collect scenery/building pieces into new building

Hi all.

So I created a nice bench/rest area, that I want to make into a building, so I can lay down more, but is there any way to do that, after you already created the whole thing and not used a collumn as a base?

The only way to make or save something as a building is if you start out with a gridded part and then keep at least 1 gridded part in the assembly forever. My favorite way to do this is to use the 1m gridded wooden column, which is small enough to hide under a bush. Then build the non-gridded scenery thing.

I know, but say I don't have a building, but just put down the elements from scenery. How do I get all those elements into a building, AFTER I have placed them?

Well, here's what you do....

Go off to the side somewhere and plant one of those little GRIDDED wooden columns. Then go back to your scenery stuff, group-select it all, and duplicate. Move the copy over to the column and place it so it's touching the column. This should add it to the building containing the column. Them select only the column and move it off to the side somewhere.

If that doesn't work, you're kinda screwed. So the best advice is, ALWAYS start with a gridded part, THEN make the scenery stuff.

It should work, I've just tried it...

First build a gridded building part (in the icon marked with the light coloured grid sign in the background) next to your loose scenery. Gridded parts are used to start a building. In this case its a building with only the one piece.

Then use the multi-selection tool an mark all loose scenery pieces and the 1-piece building.... Then press the magic button where arrow 3 points to.... [happy]

Hope that helps.
