Collecting bounties on 'ILLEGAL PASSENGERS'

Having the ability to contact local authorities to bring in wanted criminals and claim their bounties would be neat. Because any criminal who is stupid enough to take public transport when they're wanted in a system should be dropped off at the cop shop for some sweet cash and reputation points.

eg . when you are scanned by the authorities you are given a choice to either give up the illegal passenger when you land and claim the bounty or continue to smuggle where the cops will take appropriate action and when you land instead of dropping illegal passenger off per contract you can go to Contacts > Local Security Office and give them to the cops.

At the moment if you are carrying an illegal passenger you get blown out space with no consideration. To the cops if you are carrying an illegal passenger you are just as bad as they are even if you are carrying 32+ other legal passengers.

AND any Cmdr stupid enough to take a known wanted criminal deserves to get blown out of his ship. :)

If you are breaking the law, you are breaking the law.

You're actually not a public transport, you are a private contractor/pilot; which is why you're capable to seeing their requests. They are going to you because they are forbidden from taking public transport for exactly this reason.

While I definitely like this thought given the pains you have to go through for leaving a station with a wanted criminal, and would prefer to flip on them and turn them in... I'm forced to remind you that you have the ability to say, "no thank you" to any passenger that you don't want to take the risk on. These criminals are not holding a gun to your head creating a hostage situation.

Again, I like the idea. It reminds me of a player I used to chat with that used to take on slave missions and then turn around and sell those slaves on the very same station's black market. It was later amusing when his ship was blown up in a civil war, the amount of fines he collected doing this made his next rebuy three times the price of the original ship (and thus made him a pauper having to restart in a Sidey).

But it doesn't work with the current set up as this posting sounds like you saw the money, ignored the fact they were a criminal and then took off only to end up being blown-up when going through the mail slot. Greed does not make you immune to your own ignorance of the situation.

Oh the idea defiantly came from the current gold rush but I haven't been caught yet! Smuggling is the only thing that makes the A to B interesting.

Good point about the private transport/contractor thing. What if the bounty rewards were powerplay merits based on the notoriety of the passenger to the faction who has placed the bounty. So you would need to hand in the illegal passenger to the respective faction that is paying out the bounty to avoid the flipping the passenger at the same station

I know this by experience trying to run a passenger mission out of Gorbachev Station, Sol. There was a passenger: high pay, low demands wanted to go to a spot a few jump away.

Thought to myself, "easy money, I can do this..." Accepted the contract, started the take-off cycle and began to proceed to the mail slot. Looked over at my right side panel and saw ILLEGAL through the noise register. Realized, "()#$(, she's a criminal". Went to Silent Running and tried to boost out of the mail slot. Got through, was scanned by three Fed Dropships outside the station and then got my butt handed to me on a plate...

I wrote a sort of short story about it on Inara and promised myself to never do that again.

Say a power player's capital System? For the brownie points for capturing the most amount of criminals in the Bubble... I can see that being something worth the effort and even the possibility of fulfilling the OPs wish? Yeah, I'll +1 that.

Yuuuup! Something like:
Pick up passengers that rep Aisling Duval from a station in her domain and deliver them to Zachary Hudson in Nanomam for some sweet merits
