Collection Limpet: Ignore Illegal

The whole ignore function needs a decent interface. It's too clumsy at the moment, especially for un-ignoring stuff that doesn't display on the scanner because it's ignored.

Some bulk ignore on/off toggles for various classes, ownership, or legality of cargo and fragments would be useful functions on a screen for maintaining what is/isn't ignored.

Yes, why not put it in as a menue in the Limpet Controller, you know the place where other modules have Synthesis and a little bit of info text. You could just put all sorts of options, maybe even a list of all possible collection targets in there.

I don't care what it is. I want my limpets to ignore ANYTHING illegal, and grab anything else. Simple.

That, or maybe ignore ALL cargo, and grab materials (and/or fragments?).

Without having to ignore everything manually.

I agree, Surely with the so called technology we are supposed to have, we can come up with lmpets that can be set to certain actions or at least collect certain things.
Or at least being able to stop them collecting illegal cargo. Having to dump it after collection is a pain.

I made a thread a while back about overhauling limpet controllers, particularly collectors, so that higher grades of collector had smarter, more discriminating AI that could be better programmed for our needs. The proposal would give us a way to get limpets that stop getting us shot at by security, stop wasting our time grabbing what we don't want or can't hold, stop flying into asteroids and popping, and STOP SELF-DESTRUCTING IF THEY PICK UP ONE TARGETED ITEM. That last one is seriously the most idiotic design choice I've ever seen and no engineer with one quarter of a brain would ever purposely make any kind of unmanned drone do that.

Seriously, FDev loves their F*%&ing limpets and I hate them. Give me like a hydraulic grapple launcher so I can just snatch stuff and reel it in or something; if they're not going to make limpets less dumb then we need to ditch 'em. They're clunky, wasteful, annoying, disposable and senseless.

It's funny since the ignore feature is relatively new and yet also not exactly well planned.

This isn't even a limpet only issue, since you can ignore stuff without them, and the actual ad-hoc ignoring functionality itself isn't bad, the issue is there isn't any sort of overall management of the system once you do ignore something.

They essentially need an ignore list, IMO added as another entry in the cargo/mats/data tab. We should be able to un-ignore stuff from there so it doesn't have to exist in the contact tab to be "noticed" (so ignored items would be added to a list when ignored from contacts view), and this filtering system could be included at the top which is always available even if nothing is currently ignored. Filters for things like ignore: cargo, illegal goods, mining fragments, materials and possibly even all of certain grades of mats as well.
