Collector Limpet usage noob question

Hi all,

Bear with me here...

Ok, so I'm new to using Collector Limpets, an am unsure if I'm using them right.

I have a C3 Controller and loaded up a dozen limpets and headed off on the Antares CG.
Found some wreckage...flew up to about 100-200 metres from the canisters, opened up the cargo hatch and fired a collector limpet.

It worked well, flew out collected the canister and delivered to my cargo bay...then expired.

A C3 range is listed at 1.1 - 1.2 kms and I can't recall how long in seconds the duration is.

...now the question...

I was under the impression that each limpet kept going back to collect more canisters until the range or duration expires...is that not the case?

I fired each limpet and each one expired as soon as it delivered no matter how close I was.
I tried targeting another canister before the last one was delivered, but to no avail.

Can someone tell me what I might be doing wrong or if my expectation is wrong.

Cheers

It's a bug, you need to have your cargo scoop deployed or it will self destruct on launch.

Thanks for the reply...yes, I had the cargo hatch open.
The limpet wasn't exploding, it was expiring.

I worked out my issue...if you target the canister the limpet just picks it up, delivers it and then expires.
If you don't target any limpets, it goes off and keeps collecting one limpet after the other until it runs out of fuel/time.

Ive only used them for mining.... but the way they work there:

If you have something targeted they grab it, bring it back then expire.
If you have nothing targeted, they collect everything in range until their timer goes

5 limpets can load a 216t Python

Just don't target the cargo. Is not a bug. Target cargo for a 1 hit pickup. Or....leave the limpet to its own devices untargeted and it will trundle around for 10 minutes or so collecting things.
