Collector limpets are dying after one material collect

Since the update (10) collector limpets double tap my ship (cargo hold) before they release their material that they have collected; if they do not double tap then they die after one material collection. They have been fighting each other for the material that is highlighted on my HUD, then after deposit of material they die ( I think they kill each other). I am completely stopped and they still die after one material collection; Their timer has lot of time left on them. I can go through 60 limpets in about a half hour of collecting materials ( after killing ships ), this is crazy amount of limpets; I am afraid to go mining since the update!!!!

The double tap since U10 is real, however.
It doesn't seem to affect the gameplay, but it looks and feels weird.

Yeah i still (as a new player) sometimes make the mistake of releasing a collector limpet while i have a chunk of asteroid material selected.

So what i try to do is 'sample' an asteroid (laser it until one chunk comes off) and see what material it is (by selecting it), then DESELECT it before releasing the limpet. That way my limpets collect the rest of the material i laser off until the asteroid is empty, and nothing should be selected that comes off from the asteroid.

Also, a targeted limpet travels faster than an 'un targeted, collect everything until life-timer runs out' limpet. Useful for grabbing specific items in a hurry, but at the cost of one limpet per item.

Not enough space in my Asp X multi-purpose (96 tonnes cargo+Passenger Cabin (Business class for 3 person)+exploration scanners+ok combat loadout+basic mining) for those, but if i built just for mining i know to add those etc. Mostly i do mining when i see a mission for a specific ore type i know i can find and will fit in one run.

I don't see any merit in keeping a ship equipped for multi-role these days. Ships, equipment and transfers are so cheap that to me it doesn't make sense to hobble one's performance. Still, everyone has different perspectives and it is your choice.

And of course....Fleet Carriers....you can always have your specialised ship with you, I mean out in the black you can dispense with niceties like fuel scoop and shields to make more room for limpets and mined stuff!

I have one ship only, and not the biggest, so i multi-role to experience as much of the games activities as possible. As my ship ownership increases i'll specialise, but as a non min/max gamer it will always be the story of the journey more than reach 100% efficiency in any specific category.

You are quite literally running at only 50% efficiency when mining without prospectors though, as the yield is 50% less without them. That's twice as much time for the same haul, likely more than that as you spend time "sampling" an asteroid, rather than knowing what's in it.

I get building a multi-role ship, they're fun, I do it too. You just turn up places and have multiple options of stuff to do. However, when I'm planning a specific activity I will equip a ship appropriately. The Asp X is a great ship, still one of my favourites years later. I used to swap-out load-outs as needed, I still do to a degree, but equally I've liked equipping ships for a specific role.

As long as you're having fun though, it's all good :)
