Collector's Edition

Will there be a collector's edition of this game when it is released to retail?

I like to have the CE of my favorite games and would love a CE of this one.

There is a premium box set for the KS backers so I presume they would do something along those lines - although Frontier hasn't confirmed a CE as far as I am aware.

It would kinda make sense for them to do it - I'm sure people would be tempted by CE extras, art books, and in the making of DVDs etc.

Well I hope so. I wish I had known about this game during the kickstarter phase so I could donate for the premium box package, but unfortunately I didn't find out about this game till a month ago.

They would be mad not to - and these guys are anything but mad ;) If you're making 2,000 boxed editions for the kickstarter backers then why not produce another 5,000 for sale?

Because it devalues the kickstarter edition for those of us who backed it and took a risk with our money. It would also have to be priced above £90 for the same reason.

Ummm...no.

I get tired of seeing kickstarter backers think they are special snowflakes.

I'm not just talking about ED backers, I see it in every kickstarter campaign I go near.

I am one of those who backed at the kickstarter (at a considerably higher level than £90) and I have no problem with it. The kickstarter, for me anyway, was not just about getting a good bargain, but about helping to get this game made. The level that included the boxed edition also included other things anyway. Ongoing funding for the game will be important so it doesn't make a lot of sense for ED to cripple their chances of providing the best cash-flow possible without resorting to subs or P2W.

I had never heard of the Elite franchise before. I started playing PC games at my friend's place in 93. I bought a PC in 96 but took a hiatus from PC gaming since 2001.

I only got back into PC gaming like 5 years ago. So I've been mostly keeping up with games released on Steam. I don't really follow gaming news that much. I just randomly came upon this game because I was playing the X games and enjoying them and wondered if there were any other space franchises. Did a Google search and watched some YouTube videos and was sold on Elite lol.
