Collision damage does not count toward kill/bounty - bug or design?

What do you not understand? I interdicted an NPC with a high bounty, I gunned him down to 15% hull, and I finished the job by slamming into him but caught no reward.
Happy to explain, but your reply is found wanting.

In fairness, I had to re-read 3 times before I got all of that too. Your use of colourful illustratives is a little esoteric at times... very poetic I'm sure but requires greater than the normal degree of concentration.

Either way, yes you should probably get the credit for ramming damage, you should also get the credit for doing 95% of the damage then having someone else fire the "kill shot", and ramming an unwanted ship should make you wanted and more so if it explodes. For reasons best known to frontier (probably because coding it any other ways was very difficult and exploitable) they register the "kill" as performed by whoever shot the weapon that kills. If there's no weapon it's "accidental death".

Then what's the point? You no make sense young padawan. Server DOES know, what makes you think otherwise? And even if it didn't - dead don't collect bounties, regardless if they died before or after their prey. It's flat stupid if they did.

But it doesn't, both deaths register instantaneously upon impact, not upon explosion or who took the most damage or whatever. Both deaths occur, and then after the deaths are registered bounty is paid out. Because the trigger already went out to wipe any bounties collected upon my death before the bounty is paid, it remains upon my respawn. It might be as simple as moving the trigger for wiping bounties to the insurance screen or whatever, but I doubt it. Simple things like this never turn out to be truly simple.

Besides, brave young men and women willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for their cause should be rewarded post-humously. It's common practice. :p

I smacked into an Asp a couple of days ago having got him down to 3% hull. I died instantly and lost the few small bounties I had but was surprised to see I'd also gained one for 41k - presumably for killing the Asp which must have also died in the collision.

You remember about how long that took from last shot to collision kill? Seems that time gap might be a contributing factor.

I recorded it actually. Gimme a few minutes and I'll cut and upload it then we can carefully examine it whilst laughing at my incompetence.

Also recently, I shot a Cobra down to 0% and he was just beginning to explode when I bumped into him and received NO bounty at all. Was raging. Here's the Asp collision - you'll just have to take my word for it that the 41k bounty clip is 2-3 minutes after I've respawned:

Yeah was pretty quick. Seems like that might fit what was suggested earlier.
Curious though, you had the fuzz on him too, I wonder if you received the bounty cause your collision damage brought him to null hull or if a last second fuzz twinkler took him out.
I know they added something that accredits the player the bounty if this happens now..

Hard to tell cause your HUD is shot on impact, but his shields were up and you impacted at 120 with him moving toward you a bit.

On a complete side note - what capture stuffs you using? Need to start doing this but am noobish to the tools.

I'm using Shadowplay which is for certain Nvidia cards. A decent free one is included with MSI Afterburner too. I used to use that a lot.

Just noticed watching that clip back that some beastly rotter was shooting me up as I was fighting the Asp! Seems he was credited with my death too.

Actually twice now the NPC ship rammed me, he exploded and my Cobra barely has 2% hull left, and I still got the bounty.

Just sayin'.

However I noticed that in Anarchy systems, if you don't have a KWS or you didn't scan him first, you won't get bounty vouchers no matter how you kill the guy. That's my personal experience. Makes sense cuz they're all "Clean" in Anarchy systems.

I collect bounties from ramming my enemies all the time, of course i soften them up first, the ram is usually because they are right about to escape.
