Collision damage

Recently I crashed my new Anaconda with max hull and full strength shields into one of the circular stations. I blew up and didn't have money for insurance. I ticketed it and was told it was a known bug on the Anaconda's under side if I remember. After having my Anaconda reset, I test crashed a Viper with rank A shields with full power to SYS. My shields were down and I took a little hull damage.

Just at first I was in a RES bounty hunting with my Anaconda, I was up against an expert Anaconda. I decided to ram it when it was at low hull instead of having to turn again to fire. I had nearly full shields and full power to SYS. I rammed it and went down to 69% hull. I clearly remember ramming an Anaconda with a Python before and not even losing shields (although I did have better shields and with boosters).

My question is: Is there a formula or something similar to estimate crash/collision damage? Does this game abide strictly to physics or does it change things up?

No idea about the formula but there is a change. The mass of the object you hit (station vs ship) as well as your own (maybe mass lock value?). Where you hit matters as well. For example if you smash a conda into a station with the underside you should be fine. With the nose you could die. That being said +1 to this, I would love to know the specifics.
