Colonia engineers buffed to lvl 5 when?

Just looking to do some engineering and noticed ETIENNE DORN can now perform G5 Dirty drives! In fact I think all Colonia have had a buff to G5 in certain areas...

Handy to know... did I miss an announcement?

If does make things easier it must be said. However, it's with weapons that things are mostly lagging behind. You can get G5 beams, G4 pulse and MC's but PA's, Frags, Rails, Missiles are all G1 or G2.

It's fine if you've got those pinned from the bubble because you can add experimentals but it is worth checking Inara who seem to be mostly up to date.

They aren't just randomly getting buffed. Moving up a level requires thousands of rolls, some of which is done organically as people use them, and much more of which is done by some very dedicated and appreciated denizens of the region who pick a blueprint then show up with tons of mats to do hundreds of rolls at a time.

What Vedmo said. If what you want is still only G1 feel free to come join us out here doing a bazillion (give or take) rolls to improve them

Eventually they will surpass or equal the bubble engineers, with the added benefit of offering everything in 4 stops all within a 60ly(?) radius

Life support and SCB's are already better than anything you can get in the bubble, though YMMV as to whether those few extra %/ly's are worth the trip out here

Do people not use INARA any more?

I mean, I could understand people not being aware of the levels of the Colonia engineers (or that they improve) in-game, unless they're actually IN Colonia but INARA displays the engineer levels and it's been changing continually as the Colonia engineers improve.

Well, if colonia enginners improve if they work, why the bubble ones don't?

They (Bubble Enginners) have some mental problem that don't allow they to learn?

Because the bubble ones were written first? I wouldn't bet against them also improving at some point.

Be interesting to see. Atm SCB's are theoretically unlocked to G5 but recipe only allows crafting upto G4 (compared to G3 in the bubble)

Either way the increase isn't huge, but if you're in the area it's well worth swinging by to unlock them and pin a few blueprints imo

Think of 'em like car mechanics.

Alfred Buchi might've invented the Turbocharger but you'd probably get a better result by going to an outfit like TurboTechnics to get your car tuned.
Same thing with engineers in ED; just 'cos one of 'em was the first to offer a specific mod', it doesn't necessarily follow that they'll always be the best at performing that mod'.

Not entirely sure the engineers in the bubble need much of a "buff", really.
I don't think they're lacking in anything major, if you're prepared to put the effort into visiting them.
About the only things that might need a tweak are somebody in the bubble to offer G5 SCBs and Life-Support.

The biggest change I'd like to see for the bubble engineers would be to pick 3 or 4 "main" ones who, between them, can supply every XFX in the same way the Colonia engineers can.
That'd mean players could get all their XFX applied just by visiting 4 engineers instead of having to schlepp around nearly a dozen.
