News Colonia Expansion Initiative - Wrong sign up?

Good day CMDRs of the Colonia Expansion Initiative,

We have received a number of messages from CMDRs who have pledged themselves to the wrong group or organisation heading out to Colonia, and wish to switch allegiances. We have now made this possible to anyone wishing to change their pledge! Simply log into the Colonia Expansion Initiative website and select the option to change.

Here's a picture of how to do so below. You can change as many times as you like. 100% of your contrinutions will go to the group or organisation you are pledged to at the end of the CG (January).

Well that's very kind of you to offer that Zac.

I certainly hope this has not come about just because groups decided to form coalitions but not tell their supporters. Now giving them now a better chance of placing in the top 10, an underhand tactic.

By transferring goods or simply loading up the respective vessels you can do that either way.

Well this is not good. You should allow a one time change, not unlimited changes. Now people can trick other people into thinking they're supporting one group and change their vote in the last moment.

It'd be a minute's work to fake a screenshot of the page showing any commander signed up for any group, so people could do that before.

Also, I never showed my group who I signed up for. They just believed me because they know me and trust me. If you got people you don't trust carrying goods for your group, you've got bigger problems.

It's easier to do it this way otherwise you are adding rules and such which complicates it. We weren't going to have the option at all, but with a lot of people saying theyou have picked the wrong faction by mistake we decided to add the fastest solution. I don't think there is any benefit to "fooling people". No one knows the progress of their faction till the end anyway.

This too. I don't think faking support is a wide spread concern. Perhaps I'm missing something but like anything of someone says they're doing something then don't, how could you stop them? It's just a matter of trust I imagine.

Not for coalitions no. We aren't changing the factions already in place or in the list. It's just that despite making it clear that changes won't be made, there are a lot of people who have signed up for the wrong group. As the list of factions won't change its not really an issue to add this option and allow people to change their faction to the one they want to support. It just means they have the month to decide. The point is just to be as inclusive as possible.

Unfortunately that won't matter as the coalitions are already on the list, along with the 2 factions that make up said coalition, so it just means rather than having to communicate amongst themselves and organise their "supporters" to support only one of the groups, they can now just all drop the original groups and sign up to the coalition. Sorry if I seem to be getting frustrated about this, but with it being a rares CG it massively tipped the balance in favour of bigger groups and now allowing certain groups to join together into bigger groups is going to make it even harder for the smaller ones.

I do really appreciate what you're doing and the amount of work gone into it, but the goalposts keep moving.

If bigger groups that may have won 2 or 3 slots form a coalition and win only 1 slot, doesn't that mean more slots are available for smaller groups?

This. We're sticking with our effort but the moving goal posts (and the multiple reported end dates) are wearing on the folk running the rares.

It is wearing on this already incredibly hard CG. But we'll fight the good fight ol' buddy. I just wish there was a thresh-hold instead of a limited amount of spaces. This five week truck-fest and then to get nothing, that's going to be hard on the smaller groups that work their butts off but don't get a colony.
