Colonia - Got there, Now what ? Advice Please CMDR's

Hi,
So I finally arrived in Colonia (well 2 days ago) - landed, very slowly and carefully and handed in my Discovery Data (like wow - 765 new tags including 176 Neutron Stars and 17 Black Holes - came to a totaly of 29+ mill ). I took my time getting there - nearly 2 months, My longest time out in the Black and apart from a few moments here and there of dispair, it was really good and I enjoyed it.
So - what now. I had a look at the map and headed upto what looked like a Grey Cloud about 500ly above Colonia - turns out its an O Class Star - nice.
On my way back to Colonia now to try and work out what I can do now - and there in lies the Rub - is there anything to do out here other than exploring (which I enjoy) - is there any factions, missions etc (all the missions wee empty when I was in station). I like goals - if there is not a lot to do out here I will go and see Sag A and probably just spend more time out int he Black finding stuff - but its always better (at least for me) to have a Goal

BTW: Made the trip in my T6 with a 29LY Jump Range - arrived with 58% hull and 96 Power - so didn't do to bad - the Hull was damaged when I decided to fly straight down a Cliff face on a planet and didn't pull up in time hehe - lession learnt there - Pull up sooner :)

Any suggestions or comments would be gratefully recieved

Thanks in advance

Eric

There's definitely less out in Colonia in terms of defined objectives, but there's normally something going on. Have been away for a while but there's normally a CG or 2 going on, and there are some community-driven things like this.

Grats in making it in your battered T6 though, o7

For nearby exploration trips, you might like to check out EOL PROU KW-L C8-32 (nearby) and KYLOALL BF-A F2322 (couple of Kylies away).

But I'm with you on the original question, I expected to find more to do when I stopped by there last week. I think as the place grows there'll be more options for mission running there, or there's mining and bounty hunting, which you might want a different ship for...

i was out there too, was a nice trip but i returned.
next time i go with my fully combat outfited and grade 5 engineered corvette with 18.7 ly jump range.

I'm currently ferrying my Asp back to Colonia, to join the rest of my mini fleet.

Once I get back I'll resume my quest to get Colonia Dream into a better state. You'll find missions at most of the stations apart from Jaques.
There's also some trading and res hunting, but you'll be in a low grade ship. The only decent outfitting is for mining.

I am currently on my way back to the bubble from there and did a bit of transporting stuff around the other ports and some minor trading just for something different to do, but the black got the better of me and I am taking my time getting back...

1. Go to Jaques' bar
2. Spend your exploration bonus on Lavian brandy
3. Hope the Thargoids don't turn up until you're sober

:D

So.. After a heavy night in Jaques Bar, I struggle to fly my ship out into the Black again to go see if I can find some Geysers, as I haven't ever seen one other than on here in screenshots.
Found a planet - with Volcanisum, and Geysers, went down for a look see :)
So my old hard lession about pulling up sooner - dam Jaques Bar and my muddled head - lost 90% hull when I dove nose first into the ground and did a little summersault across the landscape - anyway the ship still works, I have 10% hull left and thats enough for now - as I don't plan on being out for long - just want to try and find the Geysers.

I have spent a few hours skimming the surface of this planet to no avail - is there a specific place on a planet that would yeild better results or is more likely to have these little Geysers or is it just keep looking (are they more likely in canyons or in the open) ?

Better info in this thread (though it's kinda all over the place...) - but canyons. And probably not worth bothering with iceballs either as they have ice canyons all over the place. You should be able to see them from a few km up - I tend to play between 2 and 4km up, and look down, but I'm using an Asp and it's easy to see down without using the camera. (Put 4 pips to shields! esp. if 10% hull)
