Colonia - is there PVE combat to be found?

Hi All,
I am planning to work on my remaining two Elites, in Exploring and Combat. I thought about combining the two, and travelling in my brand new Corvette over to Colonia and then doing some PVE combat while enjoying the new views over there. Question - is there any PVE out there? Any compromised nav beacons, or anything similar so I can rank up the combat part?

There's certainly Haz RES to be found out there.

How populated is Colonia? It seems pretty far away from the action. Can one head that way and make a living?

There are several compromised nav beacons in Colonia, I've passed through probably three different systems with one today. There's also factions at war, so there are conflict zones too. You should be able to filter the galmap for war and civil war to see.

Note, of course, that things may change by the time you get out here, but I would expect *someone* to be at war or in conflict all the time.

Missions pay about the same as in the bubble. The biggest issue is probably bulk trading profits being about half what you might be able to get in the bubble. There's also limited ship selection and limited outfitting.
