Colonia Region Module availability

I’ve been based in colonia now for approximately 6 months. It is by no means a hill billy outpost anymore. Quite the opposite in fact, it’s a thriving economy with a rapidly expanding population.

The frustration in not being able to support the local economy in not being able to buy decent sizes of A rated modules is what drives cmdrs back to the bubble . We are only just starting to be able to engineer to G5 and that’s only with two of the engineers. I really think the region is missing out and in my humble opinion is being held back in terms of attracting more players to the region.

The region offers all the same kinds of gameplay as in the bubble perhaps the only exception is the Thargoid narrative, and we enjoy access to as many pristine rings as almost every system offers them, so it’s a miners dream.

We have a few player factions that I dip in and out of supporting them when required. If Passenger missions are your thing then I can confirm that several systems offer short one jump high value VIP missions and any amount of long haul from 2k ly to 22k lyr upto +30m a pop.

If you’re grinding combat rank, we have plenty of compromised Nav beacons , war and civil war states and everything that comes with them-CZ’s and G5 mat USS’s .

If you’re a trader, either find and supply missions or direct trade routes are plentiful, basically what I’m saying is the only bad thing about the colonia region is as I said earlier, is not being able to buy a decent sized A class module.

I’m earning a fortune, but cannot spend much of it locally, I’ve made a point of buying small and medium ships and take them around the engineers just to try and increase my rep.

Are there any plans to introduce the full range of module availability to the region,? or should I go back to the bubble ? . Why can’t we have a Jamieson memorial type of station ? Where every module and ship can be available, even at a premium, I’m sure players wouldn’t mind paying extra for the privilege of buying the module size and class they want . Or maybe a CG for this would I feel be well attended

I’m loving the region, it’s getting better, but fitting out a ship locally sucks .

Fly safe and regards to all

You know Colonia kinda like my small town. It does not have a Starbucks at every corner. It doesn't have a major Chain Store like Walmart and such.

Here what I learn being out in the deep near Colonia is there a drawback in the deep.

A long time ago I Sola Prospect on planet Brestla A 1 sold all ships and modules at 20 percent higher than normal. I'm not sure if this still exists but something like that in Colonia space would be a solution.

You can get pretty much everything in B-rated, though, which is generally a pretty marginal performance difference. e.g. on a Python the difference between 6B and 6A thrusters is about 10m/s speed ... difference between 6A and 6B shields is 25 MJ out of ~400. I'm sure a lot of people just check for "A-rated" and assume if that's not there nothing is, but really, most of the time it's a pretty small performance drop to use B-rated instead. The FSD is an exception - going B- to A- rated is a significant increase in performance there ... but Colonia is small enough that you don't need a maxed-out range anyway.

I put this together using only local parts and engineer blueprints - https://s.orbis.zone/253m - and it's still really good.

The outfitting has been slowly improving over time - we started out with D-rated unengineered Vipers and T-6s being the best available, and now we can put a mix of A- and B- modules on any independent ship except the Mamba.
(I doubt we'll ever get a Jameson-like station, since we shouldn't have the superpower-restricted ships and modules out here, but I expect we'll get some more A-rated modules spread across the various high-end stations over time ... it would be a good goal for a CG to add a few more, since we haven't had a CG for several months now)

Pushing the local engineers to get more G5s will give a much bigger performance boost than B- to A-rated on most modules, and that one is under our control: several G4s recently, and a few more modules not far off G5. A small group can fasttrack a module up to G3 pretty quickly, and from there general usage of the blueprint will keep it moving well. Another couple of months and we may even get an exclusive blueprint or two.
