Colonia researches exclusive SCB blueprints

Following a major collaboration with members of the Colonia community, Mel Brandon has announced a breakthrough in the enhancement of Shield Cell Banks, with a fourth level of enhancement now available in both Rapid Charge and Specialised designs. Long suspected to be theoretically possible, until this morning, no Engineer had managed to actually develop them.

Rapid charge: -40% spin-up, -9% net reinforcement (Chromium + Electrochemical Arrays + Thermic Alloys)

Specialised: -24% heat, +10% reinforcement (Conductive Components + Cracked Industrial Firmware + Yttrium)

It is too early to tell whether a fifth level is practical, though Brandon hopes that the fourth-level blueprints prove sufficiently popular to fund further investigations.
EDIT 6 April: Brandon has reached G5 SCBs, but there's no G5 blueprint. G4 is still all you get.

Brandon has also made significant progress on other more well-known blueprints, with G5 beam lasers and shield boosters almost ready, and pulse lasers and shield generators not far behind. Meanwhile, Etienne Dorn is likely less than a month away from his own potential exclusive in G5 Life Support, Petra Olmanova can offer G5 Armour and G4 HRPs, and Marsha Hicks provides high-end blueprints for a wide range of mining and exploration utilities. Colonia's engineering capabilities are developing rapidly.

Shares in the Kongga Ale Brewery fell 17% in early trading today.

I had a feeling the Colonia engineers would have blueprint levels that weren't available previously because of the community effort unlock mechanic... Good stuff, IMO

Noticed this not long ago and mailed over my SCBs from the bubble.

Faster charging shield cells? Well, at least they get emptied faster that way too.

Main advantage is spool time. Lower spin up, less chance to be interrupted by feedback cascade.

Nice.

I wonder if Lori Jameson would receive a patch to enable them. After Brandon's development (and with Hicks featuring G4 life support with possibly G5 later), there is absolutely no reason to unlock her. Just fly to Colonia in DBX or other "jumper" ship, unlock engineer(s) and pin the blueprint(s).

I really have zero desire to go to colonia so hope they come to the bubble, surely even FD wouldn't leave them gated behind a 20Kly trip?

Lori has wake, manifest, and KW scanner mods which are nice-to-haves, and she can also add the experimentals (recycle for PvP, boss cell for PvE, possibly flow control for certain builds) on G4 SCBs pinned from Brandon. She can also do G5 lightweight sensors; so can Cheung but his likely pin is shields.

Tiana also has the scanner/sensor mods but she's even less useful than Lori and not as conveniently located.

Agree with a pin from brandon she's easy to skip though - especially given it's one of the more tedious unlock grinds.

I find it useful to have the choice of different pinned blueprints for certain modules.
