Colonia - second try and I made it

After announcing the big trip to Sig A:

and failing to even reach Colonia the next day because running out of fuel like an idiot and killing the trip:

I slept well, I looked at Galaxy map and I decided to storm the Colonia once again and this time I made it.
It was a rush run, I did not scan anything, used neutorn stars for boost coz of the frustration. My trusty exploration Anaconda made it somehow - little damaged, no heat sinks left:

Not sure when I will take off to Sig A, right now Vasea lives in Colonia going to a therapy after manually jumping this far. Twice. [cool]

Congratulations, CMDR!!!

The trip out there is definitely brutal (try doing it in a laden Cutter with 22.6 LY to work with). There’s a faster way, thankfully:

This site is a lifesaver. It can cut hundreds of jumps off your trip. Much better than neutron-plotting in-game.

Thanks for the link, will take a look for sure!

Grats. I have yet to even try.

Wait till you can have at least 40 - 50 LY jump range if you ask me. Unless you are very patient person.

Good effort.

Amazing how much brighter the stars are, innit?

It does look bright and its the best payoff to be honest - I was getting bored of the same black sky-box around the boubble :) New one looks amazing.

Congrats! It’s such a great trip. I know you wanted to take the hustle route but when/if you go bubblewards again, take the standard trip, so worth it. But the Colonia run is fun isn’t it? Such a feeling of accomplishment after. I made my first one right after the CG In the California Nebula, about 1K from sol. Was my first ‘long range’ trip and I got the bug. Took off for coloia two days after the end of the CG :p o7 and safe travels.

You made it! Whooo!

Congratulations and well done for surviving the Neutron Highway. Thats not a bad run then if you made it in 2 days from the bubble. Nice going!

Congratulations on the journey and repped for the persistence and not giving up attitude. [up]

Last time I did this was the first CG there to bring a T7 full of power generators there in a ship that only had 13 ly jump capabilities and (to make room for more generators) a small fuel scoop and small tank. This resulted in a three week trip (missed the end of the CG goal) of 1k ly per night. Jump/scoop/jump/scoop.... etc. Managed to find the neutron highway back home. Glad you didn't give up. :)

PS: Love your avatar.

Great little story .... +1 and o7 Commander [up]

Awesome! I actually went to Sag. A before Colonia, before realizing that the more popular route was Bubble -> Colonia -> Sag. A (at least, according to the heat map of the galaxy available online thru the wiki). There IS a set of stations along the path from the Bubble to Colonia, also available thru the wiki (it's how I am coming back). When I decide to go again, I am going to look into this neutron highway business. Two days to Colonia sounds WAY better than the three-plus weeks it took me. Congratulations, Commander!

The neutron HWY does sound like a cool thing to do, and I’m impressed he did it. Personally I don’t trust myself to survive it lol. I’m afeared I’ll mess up and get sucked into the cone of death and cooked like a turkey half way there :p

Thanks everyone - the neutron boost is not that hard/dangerous if you pay at least 50% of attention - I failed at approaching more than 10 stars and every time it did very little damage to my ship. Just ignore small ones (with short trails) - hard to pin point entry and it almost 90% of a time fails to boost your FSD.
Now I was about to transfer y Cutter to colonia but... 61 hours wait time... and over 1bil Cr - amazing great, thanks a lot immersion lol
