Colonia

Hello, Sooooooooo annoyed!
I got all the way to Colonia from Sol.
Wasn't easy but made it.
Was docking at every Colonia Bridge on the way and submitting scan/honk data.
Stopped doing that about 13k LY out from Colonia at Flyiedge JE-Z b46-9.
I get to Colonia and head to Jacques Station.....all good so far!
Docking granted and set for Auto Dock......so far so good.
Hull is at 78% after few mishaps on the way from the last dock 13k ly back.....mostly not paying attention when scooping doh!
ANYWAY.
Auto dock good to go and my screen goes black oops......alt tab out and there's a pop up from Bitdefender about Elite wanting to use microphone....??
I don't have microphone so rubbered and went back to game.
My Krait is stuck in the slot Auto Dock not on ?? and clock ticking down for me to vacate the area.
Tried reverse gear, tried auto again??
Nothing.
Then the show starts, I get fried and end up in Penal Colony 3.7 ly away.
We have an expression here in Scotland 'Eh Could Greet' (I could cry)
Not bothered about the credits redeploying.......I am about the systems honks that are gubbed LOL
Anyway felt the need to share my pain with y'all......

Enjoy Peeps 07

Oh, that's a sad story.

You could try asking support if they'd fix it for you, they've been known to fix things for commanders in the past. Though I'm not sure how many times one can ask for something to be rectified, so to be saved for big things gone wrong.

Always log out when docking or departure goes wrong.
Could have logged out to menu. That usually clears such problems.

Steve
These two.

It's too late now and probably won't make you feel better but the failsafe for docking issues is to quit the game. It's always instant with no timer and it'll place you in a safe spot (either still in dock or 10km away from the station, depending on your location when you log out).

Cheers chaps for all the responses and as some of you rightly pointed out too late but hey live and learn.
By the time I'd managed to alt tab back to game the 'you are fried' clock had started ticking and panicked LOL
Thanks again.....will know next time.
Cheers

A bit late I know, but still useful for future reference - Jacques Station is a really bad place to use autodock. You have a bunch of nearby tourist beacons spawning Orcas and Belugas which basically means that mailslot is the busiest in the game (it's the only full sized station where I've been refused docking permission because NPCs had taken up all the pads).

It's not unknown for players to sit in that station and get a bit of entertainment from watching the ships get blown up after getting wedged in the slot.

Never too late.....good info though.
I suspected so with all the 'tourist buses' parked adjacent to the mail slot.

Cheers

I really would try the support team - the are usually sympathetic to such circumstances, as long as you are not a frequent visitor. Likely they can restore you lost data etc. as long as you ask nicely.

I don't trust AI to dock my ship, and I suggest you learn to do it your self - you can keep the autodock, but just drive your self until safely in the station and let it finish of the landing. Its really not too hard - the main thing to note is where your cockpit is in relation to the rest of your ship - e.g. belugas its right at the bottom, anaconda right at the top, etc.

Lateral thruster are hand for final lining up - I have the vertical bound on my stick to the throttle lever for nudging up and down in the slot approach.

Enjoy the view from Colonia! Starry nights and a colourful nebula, and get Jacques to mix you a pan-galactic gargleblaster (well you can dream..)
