Colonisation: Ability to Gain Slots

I'm not sure what the mechanism would be, but as a system gets developed it would be really great if extra bonus building slots could appear.

I don't mean indefinite extra slots. Maybe after every 20 Architect System Points a new slot becomes available. Maybe it just gets added to orbiting the sun.

Or a completely different kind of mechanism. It would be a really nice reward to encourage additional work developing a system.

There may be a mechanic doing something similar all ready.

I've been working on a System which included a Planet with a Ring System and because there was only a single Slot, I build an Asteroid Base in it. After it was completed a new 2nd slot appeared. I gave it no mind and just build a further station to support the system infrastructure. When I finished it a 3rd slot appeared.

No idea why this is happening.

They've taken on the suggestion, but instead of being able to earn slots, they have hidden many of the slots so it looks like you are earning them but they were actually there all the time, just invisible!

Useful to know. If that's what's happening here, I'll leave the new slot fallow just in case a future orbital refinery becomes available. (Maybe that's invisible too.)

I can't help but think of special artificial structures that would be another choice for systems without asteroid rings or planets. Just think of building larger artificial, hollowed out sphere with breathable atmosphere inside of it allowing placement of two settlements at reduced cost since there would be no need to build pressurized buildings. Main difference between normal larger station and this would be no construction point requirements but in return it would be treated as system object not a station.

So how big would that be?
5-10 times the size of an Orbis?

Maybe, it could also have fixed locations for settlements inside so it would be possible to pick up type but not where those are placed (for example two settlements opposite to each other placed on equator).
As for materials I can think of:
1. Very large amount of titanium plus low quantity of other metals, just to suggest some kind of extra tough alloy is fabricated and then used in construction which won't react with oxygen in atmosphere.
2. Large amount of biowaste and chemical waste, liquid oxygen and water (more than required for largest station). To generate proper mix of gases inside of sphere, along with barren soil and water in liquid state.
3. Water Purifiers, Atmospheric Processors, Thermal Cooling-Units, Energy Grid Assembly, Power generators, Computer Components, Auto-Fabricators- just to keep environment in proper conditions for humans to survive without suits and provide some automatic maintenance for sphere itself.

Construction effect on system can be only in two aspects: maximum population and standard of living (artificial gravity from spin, proper temperature for human life, atmosphere composition, water circulation).
