COLONIZATION EXPANSION - BASE BUILDING

Colonization is great! The natural expansion of Colonization is Base Building. Most people are not intersted in
colonizing more than one System for themself! So take the second step and let us build the Base of our Dreams!

Let me specify my points with some short sentences:

- The starting point for the base building is an existing Odyssey settlement or, alternatively, a new minimal building template for an Odyssey settlement.
The minimal building template should at least contain a command center, a power plant, and a warehouse.

- New buildings can be placed within a certain range from the command center!

- New buildings require materials to build, which are accumulated in the warehouse (or a special construction warehouse)!

- The number of buildings under construction at one time is limited!

- Most buildings can have two levels: one above ground and one below ground!

- The minimal building template initially only has building sections above ground. The underground building sections must be built separately!

- Most underground building sections are connected by corridors!
This is especially true for underground hangars!

- The most important underground building section is the command center extension.

- In the underground command center extension, niches are reserved for Vista Genomics, the bar, etc.

- The part of the underground extension that can contain the bar is constructed as a raised gallery
and protrudes into the surface level as an extension of the command center. This allows you to look from the bar to the outside to the surface level of the base!

- Some of the underground building sections are connected to the corresponding building on the surface by an elevator !

- In addition to the underground section, the command center extension consists of an additional small floor above the command center.
This floor houses a special command room, from which you have a good overview of the base.

- All three floors of the extended command center are connected by an elevator!

- The systems engineer has authorization level 5, which is the highest authorization level in the base!

- The second floor of the command center, and thus the special command room, can only be accessed via the elevator and
only if you have at least authorization level 4!

- It is possible to build buildings that extract raw materials from the ground!

- The extractable raw materials depend on the raw material content of the moon !

- It is possible to build buildings that assemble complex components from raw materials available in the warehouse (=Fabricator).

- Mining buildings and fabricators have intermediate storage areas where they temporarily store the extracted/built materials.

- Once a week, mined raw materials and manufactured components are automatically transferred from the intermediate storage areas to the main storage area.

- The system engineer, or members of his clan (authorization level 4), can manually transfer the intermediate storage areas to the main storage area at any time!

- Material gankers (commanders) can raid the base at any time and rob the intermediate storage areas using drones!

- The robbery triggers a settlement alarm, and the defensive turrets (if built) open fire on the material ganker(s)!
The material ganker should therefore better deactivate the settlement alarm before robbing!

- The system engineer and his clan are immediately informed when a settlement alarm is triggered!

- Material ganking should only be possible in open play!

Sounds to me like you want to play a survival/crafting kind of a game, rather than Eltie Dangerous.

Nowhere does the OP say Open Only. It says something should be possible in Open.

Stop bringing your prejudices everywhere with you, and discuss the post.
 
Not internecine enough.

You have to manually clear rubble with a shovel before you can build.
- New buildings can be placed within a certain range from the command center!
But you aren't told that range and it's indicated nowhere
- New buildings require materials to build, which are accumulated in the warehouse (or a special construction warehouse)!
You don't know what it costs to build ahead of time and the accumulated materials decay by 25% every tick because of space rats.
- The number of buildings under construction at one time is limited!
And you don't know how many you can build at once and what affects it and if you build too many at once all the in progress constructions will fail, consuming all the materials and burning down your warehouse.

etc so it's more in line with regular colonization.
 
Material ganking in the above context means 'rob it from ohter Players' ! This should better just possible in open!
You can introduce the concept of 'material ganging' also for NPC-Settlements, than there is no problem to do it in Single-Mode!
 
So, this OP reads well and I like the idea.

It's very similarly to my own thoughts.

From my own thinking on this topic, the CMDR building his home with a view (the house on the hill) is 'nice'. But not a 'must have' feature.

My fear is this may prove to be a novelty item and not become a sustainable part of the Elite experience.
